Missouri State releases 2010 Schedule

MissouriStateBaseball The 2010 Missouri State baseball schedule has been completed and includes a total of 55 games as the Bears move into their seventh season at Hammons Field. The schedule features 25 home dates and 30 road games, 22 games against teams that qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament and four versus 2009 College World Series participants.

   

Missouri State will be challenged early, opening the year with three games at perennial power Georgia Tech (Feb. 19-21). The Bears then travel to Texas for a three-game set with Texas-Arlington (Feb. 26-28) before opening the home season with four games against North Dakota State (March 5-7).   

The Bears play at Southeast Missouri State (March 9-10) on the way to Hattiesburg, Miss., for a weekend series at CWS participant Southern Miss (March 12-14). Following that weekend, MSU plays a pair of midweek home games with Arkansas State (March 16-17) before going to Stillwater, Okla., for four games against 2009 NCAA Tournament teams. The Bears will play Oklahoma State and Wright State two times each on the trip.   

Missouri State hosts Central Arkansas (March 23-24), Oklahoma State (April 7), Kansas (April 13), Missouri (April 14) and SIU Edwardsville (April 21) in midweek games this season, and one Sunday contest with Oral Roberts (April 4) after playing the first two games of the series with ORU in Tulsa (April 2-3).   

MSU’s midweek road schedule includes Kansas (March 31), Saint Louis (April 20), Arkansas (April 28) and Missouri (May 4).   

The Bears host Evansville (March 26-28), Creighton (April 23-25), Illinois State (May 7-9) and Southern Illinois (May 20-22) in Missouri Valley Conference action, and hit the road for league series at Bradley (April 9-11), Indiana State (April 30-May 2) and Wichita State (May 14-16). UNI dropped its baseball program following the 2009 season.   

The Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship will be held May 26-29 in Wichita, Kan.

The 2010 season will be the Bears’ 28th year in Division I and also the 28th season for Bears’ head coach Keith Guttin, who enters the year with a 938-573 career record. It’s the 20th season for Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears were 34-20 last season and won the MVC regular season title.
