UNC-Greensboro kicks off Fall Practice

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Head coach Mike Gaski and the UNC Greensboro baseball team recently kicked off fall practice as the Spartans start looking ahead towards the 2010 campaign in the spring.

The team began holding afternoon practices as of late that will extend through Oct. 7. Practices usually begin at 2:30 p.m. and the team encourages fans to come out to the practices, as they are open to the public. Also, every few days the team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage to wrap up practice.

Auburn starts Fall Practice

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn baseball program will have to wait one more day before the start of fall practice as the weather postponed Tuesday’s scheduled workout. The team will instead begin its fall practice schedule on Wednesday at 3:30pm CT with scrimmages open to the public scheduled for this weekend at 5pm on Friday, 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.

Pitt readies for Fall Ball

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team is gearing up for another run at a Big East Conference Championship, starting with the opening of its fall portion the season.

Practice in preparation for the 2010 season started today, Sept. 14 at Trees Field with practice and competition continuing through Oct. 12. The squad will also feature the "Champions Challenge" this fall – a physical and mental test of endurance. The challenge will include workouts throughout campus including Trees Pool, Flagstaff Hill, Chevron Steps and the Intramural Fields.

South Alabama releases Fall Ball Schedule

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama baseball head coach Steve Kittrell announced the schedule for the Jags’ 2009 Red & Blue World Series on Tuesday.

Kittrell also announced that the Jags will begin fall practice Thursday at 2:30 p.m., and will hold scrimmages Friday, Saturday and Sunday at times yet to be determined.

USA’s annual intrasquad series begins with game one at 2 p.m. Oct 11. Games two and three are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 15, respectively.

Florida State starts Fall Ball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – As Major League Baseball heads for the home stretch in the final weeks of 2009, the college season is just getting underway in Tallahassee. Florida State officially starts its fall baseball season on Tuesday afternoon inside Dick Howser Stadium on Mike Martin Field.

The Seminoles return 18 letterwinners from last year’s squad that advanced to the Super Regionals and played for the ACC Championship. Among this year’s returnees are All-American’s Stephen Cardullo (Senior/Coral Springs, FL), Tyler Holt (Junior/Gainesville, FL), Mike McGee (Junior/Port St. Lucie, FL) and NCBWA Freshman of the Year Sean Gilmartin (Sophomore/Moorpark, CA).

TCU kicks off Fall Ball

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU baseball team is set to open fall practice Wednesday afternoon. The six-week practice schedule will see the Frogs through Oct. 24. Along the way, the squad will participate in 15 intrasquad games.

"We are anxious to begin fall practice and see what kind of team we may have and what areas of the game we need to improve on between now and February 19," said head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "I know the players are ready to begin intrasquad games and the staff is excited to begin the evaluation process. We have a lot of work to do both on and off the field to be the kind of team we want to be and reach the very high goals that this program has yearly."
