JeffDuncan Jeff Duncan has left his position as a volunteer assistant coach at Auburn for an assistant position with the Purdue Boilermakers. Duncan spent the last school year with the Tigers coaching the outfielders and helping out with the hitters. Outfielder Trent Mummey won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove while the team hit a school record 103 homers.

This is an interesting move as Purdue is looking to turn around the program after going 25-26 overall and 11-12 in the Big Ten which saw them finish in sixth place in the conference.

AUBURN, Ala. – Jeff Duncan has left his position as the Volunteer Assistant Coach on Head Coach John Pawlowski’s baseball staff for a full-time assistant coaching position at Purdue. Duncan, who came to Auburn in the summer of 2008, helped the Auburn offense hit a school-record 103 home runs while his work with the outfielders helped Trent Mummey win an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove.

"Jeff did a great job for us in the short time that he was here," Pawlowski said. "He certainly helped the program move forward. This is a great opportunity for him to go to Purdue and one that he couldn’t turn down. From the baseball staff and the baseball family here at Auburn, we wish Jeff and his family nothing but the best."

Duncan, who is from Harvey, Ill., started his collegiate playing career at Iowa State before moving to Arizona State. He was a seventh-round selection of the New York Mets in the 2000 MLB Draft and spent parts of the 2003 and 2004 seasons in New York.
