TonyRossi Head Baseball Coach Tony Rossi has finalized his coaching staff for the 2010 season. Rossi announced today the promotion of Jimmy Jackson to pitching coach and recruiting coordinator as well as the the hiring of Keith Glasser and Phil Cahill as assistant coaches.

Jackson served as a volunteer assistant on the 2009 staff, working primarily with the catchers and outfielders. As the primary assistant, Jackson will oversee the staff’s recruiting efforts in addition to working with the pitching staff.

"We’re excited about the promotion of Jimmy to recruiting coordinator and pitching coach," Rossi said. "He has a wealth of knowledge as an evaluator and his expertise as a pitching coach will make him a valuable asset to that part of our program."

Glasser played four seasons at MAAC member Marist (2004-2008) serving as captain for the Red Foxes as a senior. He spent last season as a graduate assistant at the University of West Alabama where he assisted in all facets of the program. Glasser began his coaching career as an assistant for the McLean Raiders of the Clark Griffith Baseball League.

At Siena, he will work with the hitters and Saints’ defense – particularly the catchers and outfielders.

"Keith is a welcome addition and will play a critical role in working on skill development with our hitters," Rossi said. "His background in collegiate baseball – especially as a student-athlete in the MAAC – will be an invaluable asset to the program."

The final member of the staff is no stranger to the program having graduated in May after playing four years under Rossi. Cahill was an All-MAAC performer behind the dish in 2008 when the Saints made a run to the MAAC title game. He will work primarily with the infielders.

"Phil knowledge of the program will be a valuable asset to the staff," Rossi said. "He has a high baseball IQ and I’m confident his transition will be a smooth one."

Rossi and the Saints will be looking to rebound from a 15-35 2009 campaign when they begin their season at Stetson February 20.
