The Tennessee Volunteers have released their 2010 schedule. The 56 game slate has the Vols playing thirty five home games, including fifteen home SEC contests. The Vols will begin the season at home against 2009 Regional participant Xavier (Feb. 19-21). The non-conference portion of the schedule is highlighted by two tournaments in Knoxville, one in which the Volunteers will host Binghamton and Kennesaw State (March 5-7) and the other in which Tennessee hosts Connecticut, Ohio State, and Marshall (March 12-14).
The Vols also travel to Pac 10 foe Oregon State (Feb. 26-28) for a weekend series.
Tennessee begins SEC play on the road at South Carolina (March 19-21) and also has conference road series at Ole Miss (April 2-4), Mississippi State (April 16-18), Georgia (May 7-9), and Auburn (May 14-16). The Vols will host LSU (March 26-28), Florida (April 9-11), Vanderbilt (April 23-25), Kentucky (April 30-May 2), and Alabama (May 20-22) at Lindsey Nelson Field for SEC play. The SEC Tournament (May 26-31) will be held in Hoover, Alabama.
The Texas Southern Tigers begin the 2010 campaign at home against Alabama A&M (Feb. 19-21). Also highlighting the home non-conference slate for the Tigers are games against Sam Houston State (March 2), McNeese State (March 9), and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (April 28). Texas Southern has notable away games against Southeastern Louisiana (March 5-7), Lamar (March 16-17), Sam Houston State (April 7), McNeese State (April 14), and Rice (May 5). The Tigers will also participate in the Jackson State Tournament beginning Feb. 26.
Home SWAC series for the Tigers will be against Grambling State (March 20-21), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (April 17-18), and Southern (May 8-9). Texas Southern will travel to Arkansas-Pine Bluff (March 13-14), Southern (April 3-4), and Grambling State (April 24-25). The Tigers will also play two split conference series with local rival Prairie View A&M (April 9-11 and May 14-16). The SWAC Championship will begin May 26 in Jackson, Mississippi.
