Kentucky opens up Fall Practice

George Mason, Longwood Announce 2010 Schedules

Washington Post Photo Head coach Bill Brown has released the 2010 George Mason baseball schedule.  The Patriots will play thirty one home games at Spuhler Field this season, including twelve CAA contests.

George Mason will begin the season in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as they play a double round robin tournament with Northwestern and Winthrop (Feb. 19-21).  The following weekend the Patriots will have their home opener, as they host Monmouth (Feb. 26-28) for a three game set.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb announced Tuesday that junior left-handed pitcher Phil Haig has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

“We place great emphasis on conducting yourself in a way that represents our team and the university in a positive way and Phil did not fulfill his responsibilities,” Hartleb said. “We will move forward as a team in our preparation for the 2010 season.”

UAB opens up Fall Practice

JamalAustinUAB BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After several weeks of weight training, conditioning and individual workouts since the start of school, the UAB baseball team is ready to get back on the field as a complete unit for its fall practice period.

The Blazers will practice 28 days over the next five weeks, starting Friday, Oct. 2 and ending Saturday, Nov. 7. As usual, all sessions will be held at UAB’s Young Memorial Field and will be open to the public. A weekly practice schedule is included at the end of this release.

Missouri State releases 2010 Schedule

MissouriStateBaseball The 2010 Missouri State baseball schedule has been completed and includes a total of 55 games as the Bears move into their seventh season at Hammons Field. The schedule features 25 home dates and 30 road games, 22 games against teams that qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament and four versus 2009 College World Series participants.

Western Kentucky releases 2010 Schedule

South Alabama Fall Report: Week One

AdamHeisler MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team held its first fall intrasquad scrimmages at Stanky Field over the weekend. While a handful of newcomers had impressive debuts, one returning Jag picked up right where he left off after earning all-conference honors following the 2009 season.

Adam Heisler, who chose to return to USA for his senior season after being selected in the 45th round of the 2009 MLB draft, was retired only one time in 10 plate appearances over the weekend.

Vandy opens up Fall Practice

CorbinCoaching The Vanderbilt baseball program finally opened up fall practice on Saturday after four days of rain pushed it back. Vanderbilt made an NCAA appearance last season after going 37-27 and making the Louisville Regional Final before losing to the host Louisville Cardinals. After the season was over, Vandy top assistant Erik Bakich accepted the head coaching job with ACC member Maryland. Josh Holliday has moved into the opening after a successful run at Arizona State which saw them make the College World Series last season. Wake Forest opens Fall Practice

MikeMurray WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest baseball team officially opened fall practice with a three-hour session on Tuesday afternoon at Wake Forest Baseball Park.

The practice marked the first official workout for the Demon Deacons under new head coach Tom Walter.

"I thought the first day couldn’t have gone any better," Walter said. "I was really pleased with their energy level and their attention to detail. I couldn’t have been happier with the effort today."

Western Michigan releases 2010 Schedule and Fall Dates

WesternMichigan KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan baseball team has announced its 56-game 2010 schedule, opening the season with trips to Dallas and Winter Haven, Fla. WMU will also play a five-game intrasquad series, the Black & Gray World Series, in October as part of fall ball practice.

The Black & Gray series begins Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. The other four games are scheduled for Oct. 9, 10, 16 & 18. Weekday games will begin at 2:30 p.m. and weekend games are scheduled for 11 a.m.

KR: Checks in on Pac-10

Pac-10Conference Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com continues his series of articles on conferences across the country heading into Fall Practice. Today, he checks in on the Pac-10 conference which he states is looking to rebuild after Arizona State made the College World Series last season. After the Sun Devils, there was a significant drop-off in the conference with Washington State coming in second place.
