The final Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week of the 2009 Cape Cod Baseball League regular season is Harwich starter Aaron Meade (Missouri State). Meade won his only start of the week, a seven-inning gem against Chatham. Meade did not allow a run and struck out five over the course of the performance, while scattering only four hits.

2009 Texas Collegiate League Awards

Although they are the two newest teams in the Texas Collegiate League, the Victoria Generals and East Texas Pump Jacks finished the 2009 regular season far ahead of the rest of the pack. The two teams took home the majority of the awards, including eight of the 12 All-League selections.

Cotuit hammers YD to adance

S. YARMOUTH, Mass—For the second year in a row, the Cotuit Kettleers are going to the championship series. They beat the Y-D Red Sox18-4 to earn a spot against the Bourne Braves. By the end of the matchup, all but one of the Kettleers in the starting lineup crossed the plate.

Chris Bisson (Kentucky) started it off on the first pitch of the game with a single and a stolen base, setting up Kevin Patterson (Auburn) to bring him home on a single. Cody Stanley (UNC Wilmington) beat the throw to first base on an infield single before Cameron Rupp (Texas) walked, and with the bases loaded, Y-D’s Greg Peavey (Oregon St.) walked Kevin Keyes (Texas) to score Patterson. Zach Maggard (Florida Southern) then struck out on a wild pitch, but another run came into score on the play.

Stephen F. Austin adds Seven Signees For 2010

JordanLewis NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head baseball coach Johnny Cardenas has announced the signing of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2010 season. The seven players include three junior college transfers, and four directly out of the high school ranks.

The all-Texas class includes three pitchers – Tyler Herriage (Weatherford JC), Kyle Rogers (Dulles HS), Cody Priest (Dobie HS) – and four position players – Darren Crabtree (Temple College), Bobby Loveless (Alvin CC), Cole Popper (Second Baptist Academy), Jordan Lewis (W.T. White HS).

"I think the guys we brought in can certainly make an immediate impact here at the Division I level," Cardenas said. "They will not only bring us plenty of options, but also give us tremendous balance as we compete for a Southland Conference championship next season."

Greg Moore added to Washington Coaching Staff

GregMoore SEATTLE – Greg Moore has been added to the Washington baseball coaching staff, head coach Lindsay Meggs announced today. Moore, who will handle pitching for the Huskies, joins Meggs and Dave Nakama, who was named an assistant earlier this month, on the full-time coaching staff.`

Moore comes to the UW after eight seasons as an assistant at the University of San Francisco.

NCBWA Releases 2009-10 Officers; SEC’s Chuck Dunlap Named New President

IRVING, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its list of 2009-10 officers today, as approved recently by the organization’s executive board.  These officers begin their duties immediately and will serve in these roles through the 2010 College World Series.

The new president is Chuck Dunlap, longtime baseball contact for the Southeastern Conference and representative of the NCBWA at several NCAA World Series’ in Omaha.  Dunlap is steeped in the long Mississippi State tradition as a graduate and youthful follower of the Bulldogs and succeeds 2008-09 President Joe Dier, the 23-year chief baseball contact for MSU.

The Cotuit Kettleers take on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in Game 3 of their CCBL Playoff Series. Cotuit won Game 1 by a score of 3-0 behind an excellent pitching performance from Chad Bell as they picked up the road victory. Hartford adds Jerry Shank to the Coaching Staff
