Ole Miss heads back to Campus

OleMissCampus OXFORD, Miss. - Fall is an exciting time on campuses all across the country as students return and get geared up for another school year, football season and all of the other activities that come along with college life.

The Ole Miss Baseball team is no exception to that rule, but the members of the squad and the coaching staff are also excited for another reason as the team starts work for another season and another run at a Southeastern Conference title after claiming the 2009 SEC Championship.

"It’s always exciting this time of year because you feel the excitement in the players and the coaches," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "Everyone has rebooted so-to-speak and you see the excitement in the new guys and recruits, but you see it in the returning players as well.

"The veterans may have been here for a year or two, but they look at it from a new perspective each year," Bianco said. "They go from being a wide-eyed freshman to seeing things from a new angle. One of the things we continue to emphasize is maintaining that energy throughout the fall and not letting it fade after the first week.

Players reported back to campus last weekend and went through an orientation process with team meetings to cover every aspect of life as a student-athlete ranging from academics to strength and conditioning.

Players have gone through strength and conditioning training over the course of the week while getting acclimated to classes and student life. Fall practice will begin the weekend of September 25 as the team begins preparations for the 2010 season.
