The Team USA game tonight against the North Shore Navigators has been canceled due to rain in the Boston area. Team USA is back in action on July 10th against Kokusai Budo University in Tokyo Japan. They will play the Japan Collegiate All-Star team starting July 11-16th in a five game series which features games in the world famous Tokyo Dome and other stadiums around Japan. America’s Best Baseball Schools
The Wall Street Journal has an excellent article about which schools are the most successful in developing pro prospects. The interesting part about the MLB Draft is how high the failure rate of players is. One example of this is 1999 when over half of the first round picks have not been in the MLB while Albert Pujols has become the most feared hitter after being picked with the 402nd selection in that same draft. LSU Unveils 2010 Schedule
The defending national champion LSU Tigers have released their 2010 baseball schedule. The Tigers will defend their title with 38 games at Alex Box Stadium, including a 12-game homestand to open the season.
The season kicks off February 19-21 with in-state Centenary traveling to Baton Rouge for a three game set, followed by a mid-week game against the McNeese State Cowboys on February 24. Read the rest of this entry »

ACC Announces Venue Change for Baseball Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship will be held at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, N.C. (2012), and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (2011, 2013), as announced today by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. Western Major Baseball League recap for July 6
The Okotoks Dawgs lead the West Division with a 19-8 record. They defeated the Melville Millionaires 8-3 and 6-4, and the Yorkton Cardinals 6-2 over the weekend. Mark Phillips (Colby College), Logan Todd (Merced College), and Danny Britton-Foster (British Columbia) got the wins. Britton-Foster leads the team with a record of 3-0, 1.16 ERA. UNC Asheville Names Tom Smith as Head Baseball Coach

West Coast League recap for July 6
The Corvallis Knights lead the West Division with a 16-4 record. On July 3, they drew a league-record crowd of 3,506 against the Bend Elks. The Knights won 9-2; Matt Andriese (UC-Riverside) started and got the win, went six innings, allowed five hits, struck out seven. The winning run came on a home run by Dylan Jones (Mount Hood CC) in the bottom of the fourth. Richie Jiminez (Riverside CC) leads the league in hitting with a .429 average.
