I made the drive over to Bryan, Texas to catch the Game between Brazos Valley Bombers and the McKinney Marshals. Going into the game the Bombers were sitting in 3rd place of the Texas Collegiate League while the Marshals were in 4th place. On the mound for the Bombers was OU Pitcher Kennedy Winn who was sporting a 2-0 record with an 3.51 ERA while his counter part was Thomas Rooke who plays his college baseball for Kansas State.

It was not Fireworks Friday but Thirsty Thursday as the runs were just pouring in last night. The Marshals topped the Bombers 13-9. The Bombers organization have done a great job of promoting this brand of Baseball in Bryan, Texas. The Attendance for last night game 1,407. The city of Bryan is behind the Bombers and they are very supportive of the teams from the rest of the TCL!.

It was "Thirsty Thursday" and they have $1 Beer night

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 23, 2009) –

The Brazos Valley Bombers’ struggles continued tonight as they were defeated by the McKinney Marshals 13-9 in a game that featured five lead changes, 22 runs, 25 hits and 23 runners left on base. The Bombers will look to even up the series tomorrow in a rematch against the Marshals on Fireworks Friday.

The Marshals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bombers scored one in the first and four more in the second to take a 5-2 lead. The Bombers seemed to be running away with the game, but McKinney bounced back with four runs of their own in the fourth to reclaim the lead at 6-5.

The Bombers came right back with a run in the bottom half of the fourth to tie it up at six and eventually claimed the lead back 8-7 in the seventh inning as Jesse Payne scored on an error.

McKinney came roaring back to take the lead for good in the eighth, as they scored six runs on Aaron Daab and Joaquin Hinojosa to go up 13-8. The Bombers were able to score one more, but it was not enough as McKinney held on for the 13-9 win.

The Bombers totaled 10 hits in the game, with Clifton Thomas and Cliff Vaughn recording two-hit games each. Brazos Valley will try to put an end to their current skid tomorrow as Travis Smith takes the hill against the Marshals.
