Bakich seeking an ACC title with Maryland

BakichMaryland Patrick Stevens of The Washington Times has put out an excellent article about newly hired Maryland baseball coach Erik Bakich who is seeking to turn around the Terps baseball program. The Maryland program has been a near laughing stock over the past four decades with their last NCAA tourney berth in the 1971 season. Bakich is considered a wizard on the recruiting trail as he turned around the Vanderbilt program during his seven years there from being a doormat into being one of the best teams in the nation. Current Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin says the following about Bakich’s recruiting ability “"He’s just got a different way about him. He’s a good-looking kid. He’s a chameleon. He can talk to you, can talk to a banker, can talk to a bum on the street and make them all feel good."

2010 and 2011 Big East Championships head back to Clearwater FL

BigEastChampionship The Big East Conference announced on Thursday that the Big East Conference Baseball Tournament will be hosted at Bright House Field in Clearwater Florida for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The stadium hosted the championships in both the 2008 and 2009 seasons. I am disappointed only for a selfish reason as I have enjoyed many Big East tournaments through the years as they have been in New England multiple times. This is a good move by the Big East if they can get the weather to coorperate as it did not for the most recent 2009 championships. You can check out the full press release below.
