The NCAA seems to be reconsidering the decision to add a week to the beginning of the 2010 college baseball season. According to an article by the AP, over 100 complaints have come in from teams across the country. I would have to think that many of these complaints came from northern programs which a week added to the season would actually cost their school more money by having to travel down south again. Tomas heads back to Miami (FL)

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Former University of Miami infielder Roger Tomas has returned to Miami baseball program as an assistant coach, head coach Jim Morris announced Tuesday.

CWS Game 10: Arizona State 12 UNC 5

OMAHA, Neb. – Left fielder Kole Calhoun went 2-for-3 with six RBI and Arizona State rolled to a 12-5 victory over North Carolina before a sellout crowd of 25,001 Thursday evening at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Team USA Trials: Blue Team 3 Red Team 1

(CARY, N.C.) – Bryce Brentz (Middle Tennessee State) went 3-3 with a solo home run and the Blue Team picked up a 3-1 win over the Red Team at the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) Trials at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
Brentz wasted little time as he kicked off the scoring in the top of the second inning with a 390 foot home run to left centerfield on Red Team starter Drew Pomeranz (Mississippi) for the early 1-0 lead. Read the rest of this entry »

New Orleans set to promote Peddie to Head Coach
The AP is reporting that New Orleans will promote Bruce Peddie to head coach to replace Tom Walter who took the job at Wake Forest in the past week. Peddie has been with the school for the past three seasons and has 22 years as an assistant during his coaching career. The decision to hire Peddie will not become official for over a month as the school might end up cutting the entire athletic department due to the financial crisis that the school is facing. Is Texas a team of Destiny?
As most of my readers know, I just got back from the College World Series and one of the biggest stories in Omaha is how Texas is winning all their games. The Longhorns throughout the NCAA Tournament have been winning games in many different ways from grabbing a 25 inning win, winning on a walk-off walk against Southern Miss, and coming back from a 6-0 deficit against Arizona State. 2009 ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-American Teams Announced

OMAHA, Neb. – The American Baseball Coaches Association announced the ABCA/Rawlings Sporting Goods All-American teams on Wednesday, June 17.
Among the First Team honorees are six players participating in this year’s College World Series including Arizona State starting pitcher Mike Leake, LSU starting pitcher Louis Coleman, Arizona State catcher Carlos Ramirez, UNC first baseman Dustin Ackley, ASU outfielder Jason Kipnis and Virginia utility player Danny Hultzen. CWS Game 9: Arkansas 4 Virginia 3 (12 innings)

CWS Game 9 Preview: Virginia vs Arkansas
The Virginia Cavaliers and Arkansas Razorbacks will face off tonight at 7pm Eastern time in an elimination game. The winner of the game will face off against the LSU Tigers on Friday at 1pm. The Cavaliers enter with a 49-14-1 record and a 1-1 mark in the College World Series. Virginia lost game 1 of the CWS to LSU by a score of 9-5. (FULL RECAP) then the Cavaliers eliminated Cal-State Fullerton by a score of 7-5. (FULL RECAP). Arkansas enters with a 40-23 record and also 1-1 in the College World Series. Southern Illinois Releases 2010 Schedule
With the 2009 College World Series still in progress, the Southern Illinois Salukis have turned their attention toward the 2010 baseball season. The Salukis finished the 2009 campaign with a disappointing 24-28 overall record and fifth place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference with an 11-9 conference record.
