The Life of a Temporary Player in the CCBL
The Cape Cod Chronicle has an excellent article looking at how difficult it is to make a Cape Cod League roster after taking a temporary roster spot. The spots on the team open up usually around the beginning of the year when players are still taking part in the CWS, trying out for Team USA, or have a slight injury. CWS Championship Series Game 2: Texas 5 LSU 1

OMAHA, Neb. — Pitching and offensive power carried Texas to a third and decisive game at the NCAA Division I College World Series Championship Finals after beating LSU 5-1, Tuesday.
After an hour and 34 minute rain delay, Longhorn starter Taylor Jungmann pitched a complete game, giving up just one run on five hits and dealing LSU its first loss in the NCAA Tournament. Jungmann struck out nine while walking just two. Read the rest of this entry »
Team USA Trials: Blue Team Runs Past Red Team, 6-1

(CARY, N.C.) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) went 3-4 with a solo home run and three RBI for the Blue Team in its 6-1 victory over the Red Team, Tuesday, at the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) Trials in Cary, N.C.

LSU’s Ross set to start Game 2 of CWS Championship Series

OMAHA, Neb. — Sophomore right-hander Austin Ross will start game 2 of the College World Series championship final against Texas, LSU head coach Paul Mainieri announced Tuesday morning. LSU leads the best-of-three series, 1-0, after a dramatic 7-6 win in 11 innings on Monday.

Centenary Announces 2010 Schedule

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary baseball team and head coach Ed McCann have announced the 2010 schedule. The season will get started with College World Series finalist LSU on Feb. 19 in Baton Rouge.

Hoosiers Sign Trace Knoblauch to NLI

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana baseball team has announced that Trace Knoblauch has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Hoosiers in the fall of 2009. CWS Championship Series: LSU 7 Texas 6 (11 innings)

Washington’s Knutson released from contract

SEATTLE – After 17 seasons as the University of Washington’s head baseball coach, Ken Knutson will no longer serve in that position effective June 30.

The first Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week of 2009 hails from Bourne, with Braves pitcher Eric Cantrell securing that honor. Cantrell put on a masterful performance in the Braves’ first win of the year, a 5-1 victory over Wareham, recording eight shutout innings and improving to 1-0 on the season. 2010 Team USA Coaching Staff Announced

(DURHAM, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Monday the naming of Bill Kinneberg as head coach and Dave Serrano as pitching coach of the 2010 USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate).
In 2009 Kinneberg led Utah to its first NCAA tournament appearance since 1960 – an automatic bid it received for its first ever Mountain West Conference title. Utah won two games at the NCAA’s, defeating Gonzaga and Georgia Southern in the Fullerton Regional. The win over Gonzaga was his 400th career victory. Kinneberg established school records for wins in a season at UTEP (1985), Wyoming (1990) and Utah (1996), and in 1990 he was named Western Athletic Conference coach of the year.
