Richard Justice says Garrido needs to go

garridopicYes, you read that correctly that Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle believes that Augie Garrido needs to let go by the University of Texas. His reasoning behind this ludicrous statement is the fact that Texas has not won a national championship since 2005. Justice also states that Augie can’t handle a pitching staff if he was given a compass and a map. I guess Justice needs to do his research a little bit before making this statement as Texas finished the season with the second best ERA in the nation. Nice job, Richard in doing your research. By the way, I was in the press box for the first four days of the College World Series and failed to see Justice covering the event. Read the rest of this entry »

Interesting Game in the NECBL on Friday

necblThe Vermont Mountaineers and the Pittsfield American Defenders played a very interesting NECBL game on Friday night. The game featured a near protest, a sun delay, and an eventual suspension of the game due to lighting in the area. The reason for the sun delay is the fact that Wahconah Park in Pittsfield MA has the stadium facing towards the west with the sun setting in center field thus getting in the batters eyes. The near protest was over Pittsfield using a player not listed as a substitute on the lineup card at the beginning of the game which Vermont questioned on multiple occasions. Corbin Blakey, Paul Bello, Chris Casale, Neal Dennison, Mike Garza, James Heine, Justin Leeson, Thomas Polus, Danny Poplawski and Charlie Steinman comprise the incoming class for the Blue & Gray. This season’s polls have been circulated from Feb. 23-June 25 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb. LSU defeats Texas 11-4 to win NCAA Title

The LSU Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open a tie game and roll to an 11-4 victory over Texas in Game 3 of the CWS Championship Finals and claim the NCAA Division I Championship.

It’s the sixth national championship for LSU and the first under head coach Paul Mainieri. LSU ties Texas for the second-most national championships for any school, behind only Southern California’s 12 titles. It’s also the first national championship for the Tigers since 2000. USA Baseball Announces 2009 National Team Roster

(CARY, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Wednesday night the 22 members of its 2009 National Team (Collegiate). The roster is headlined by shortstop and 2008 National Team member Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton; Capey, Puerto Rico), and consists of five outfielders, six infielders, 10 pitchers, and one utility player.
