Arizona State heads to CWS with 8-2 victory over Clemson
Tempe, AZ – Mate, I don’t think anyone could have predicted Australian Josh Spence would be in this position. A late season tendon strain in the middle finger of his throwing hand had Arizona State head coach Pat Murphy predicting less than a five percent chance of Spence even throwing out of the bullpen in relief again this season. Then throw in a back injury during a comeback game. But on Sunday night a complete game effort proved to the college baseball world, ASU will be riding to Omaha on the back of two pitching aces this time. UVA advances to CWS with 5-1 win over Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – The Virginia baseball team captured its first berth in the College World Series after earning a 5-1 win over Ole Miss Sunday in front of 10,110 spectators at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field in the NCAA Oxford Super Regional. Moments after North Carolina defeated East Carolina 9-3 to clinch a fourth straight College World Series trip, the 53-year-old coach ran to his wife’s front-row seat and climbed up the protective net in front of the stands to give her a celebratory kiss.

TCU picks up 3-2 win

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs staved off elimination and forced a game three with a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Texas Sunday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. ASU wins Game 1 over Clemson, 7-4
Tempe, AZ – A Jason Kipnis home run onto Rural Road in the bottom of the first inning energized a sellout crowd of 4,381 on Saturday night at Winkles Field – Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark in game 1 of the Tempe Super Regional. And by the time the evening was over, Mike Leake had secured his nation leading 16 win of the season and the 40th of his ASU career. The 7 to 4 victory over the Clemson Tigers puts the Sun Devils one win away from a return to Omaha and the College World Series, while the Tigers now hope to emulate Fresno State of last year and take the next two.
