Random Thoughts for Day 4 of the CWS

Here are some of my random thoughts from the fourth day of action at the College World Series.

  • You have your number 1 pitcher on the mound with a 6-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, Do you expect him to blow a six run lead in less then three outs? Neither do I but that is what happened to Mike Leake and Arizona State today.
  • How much longer do you think Destiny can carry the Texas Longhorns? They are winning games by the skin of their teeth but are coming out on the good side in many of these games. Whatever the team needs that night someone is stepping up and doing it.
  • Dustin Ackley is the most ridiculous player I have seen in College Baseball over the last 15 years. I can’t figure out why this kid is such a good hitter. He doesn’t l0ok that imposing but knows how to hit.
  • I had to attend Corky Palmer’s press conference today which was the final time he would don the Golden Eagles uniform. He didn’t cry in the press conference but seems to be ready to turn the reins over to Scott Berry who has served over the last five years as the Associate head coach and will be the coach during the 2010 season.
