CWS Players to Watch (Bracket 2)

The College Baseball Blog breaks down the top players in the College World Series who need to be watched on each squad. Here is your preview for Bracket 2 of the College World Series which features Arizona State, UNC, Southern Miss, and Texas. If these players have a big week, then their respective teams will be in excellent shape to walk away with a National Championship.

Arizona State

Mike Leake- Junior RHP/OF….Ace of the Sun Devils staff…He is an outstanding 16-1 with an ERA of 1.36.
Josh Spence- Junior LHP….Second starter….He is 9-1 with a 2.33 ERA
Jason Kipnis- Junior OF/IF….top hitter on the team with a .385 average and 16 homers and 71 RBI

UNC

Alex White- Junior RHP…Ace of the Tar Heels staff. He is 8-4 with a 4.13 ERA
Dustin Ackley- Junior 1b/OF…has a .412 average with 22 homers and 70 RBI….Finalist for Dick Howser Award
Matt Harvey- Sophomore RHP…potential 1st round pick in 2010 MLB Draft…He is 7-2 with a 5.35 ERA

Texas

Brandon Belt- Junior 1B…Top hitter with a .336 average with eight homers and 40 RBI
Chance Ruffin- Sophomore RHP…10-2 with a 3.02 ERA
Kevin Keyes- Sophmore OF….second on the team with a .305 average with 7 homers.

Southern Miss

Brian Dozier- Senior SS- was the top hitter on the team until an injury. He will be back for the CWS according to multiple sources. He is hitting .394 with four hits and 39 RBI
Todd McInnis- RS Sophomore RHP- 2009 C-USA Pitcher of the Year…9-4 with a 3.61 ERA
Collin Cowgill- RS Sophomore Closer- 4-3 with an ERA of 3.32 while picking up 13 saves.
