cbffoundationLUBBOCK, Texas — The College Baseball Foundation Board of Trustees has named Mike Gustafson as the executive director of the foundation. Gustafson’s first day was Monday.

“This is a exciting time for the College Baseball Foundation,” said Sam Medina, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We are delighted to be able to bring Mike on board in this capacity. He has been a valued member of our board since its inception in 2004 and he will continue to bring a wealth of knowledge and resources to our organization in this new position.”

Gustafson has a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech and wrote his dissertation on sporting event attendance.

He will oversee the day-to-day business of the foundation from the organization’s new office at 1517 Texas Ave.

Gustafson will serve as the primary contact for Populous, the official architecture firm of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame, and will coordinate the logistics of the CBF’s annual July events, including the College Baseball Awards Show and the College Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

“I’m very excited to start this new position,” he said. “Our organization has a big job ahead of us and I’m thrilled to be an integral part of this process.”

The College Baseball Foundation was established to create an understanding of the historical significance of college baseball, raise awareness of the ongoing development of the game and develop an appreciation for the game’s impact on society.
