WCC Baseball Championship Series Free Live Video

The West Coast Conference Championship Series between Gonzaga and Loyola Marymount begins tonight, and the conference will be offering live free video streaming through the WCC website.  To access the video player click here. Gonzaga won the WCC regular season with a 14-7 record, and Loyola Marymount finished second with a 13-8 record in league play. The Zags took the season series between the two teams two games to one. Wake Forest Will Not Renew Rembielak’s Contract

Wake Forest has announced that Rick Rembielak will not return as the head coach of the Demon Deacons next year. He finishes his career at Wake Forest with a 142-142 record in five seasons while going 22-30 in 2009. He came over to Wake Forest after a successful stint at Kent State where he went 373-251-1 over eleven seasons. The search for a replacement will begin immediately. Read the rest of this entry »

Results from Day 1 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:

Lee 5, Campbellsville 2

The Flames got a two-run home run by 1B Chris Warters in the top of the first inning, and the winning run on a solo home run by C Chris Dubon in the top of the second. DH Junior Rodriguez added a solo home run in the fourth, and RF Julian Alvarez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.

Flames starter Matthew Gilson went 6 2/3 innings, allowed two runs (one of them walked in) on seven hits, struck out five, and walked four. Reliever Josh Rose retired all seven batters he faced, and struck out four of them. Read the rest of this entry »

WAC Tournament Day One Recap/Day Two Preview

09wacbsbtourneyDay one of the WAC tournament saw some exciting baseball be played and as was the case all season long the games’ final scores were indicative of how closely bunched the league has been this season. The top two seeds in the tournament, San Jose State (over Nevada) and Louisiana Tech (over Hawai’i) won their opening day games while 4-seed New Mexico State handed 3-seed Fresno State their first loss in tournament play in the past three season (the Bulldogs had previously been 12-0).

(Victoria, Tx) The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League are excited to have Willie Kempf in their rotation for the summer. Willie was the 2009 Captain for The Baylor Bears. Last summer he was named to the Cape Cod League all-star squad. This spring Willie was the number 2 pitcher for the Bears with a 4-3 record and a 5.62 era. He struck out 45 in 41 innings while walking only 22.

Willie is a 6 foot 185 pound right handed pitcher who has just completed his junior year. Five times he has been named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Read the rest of this entry »

Dance-off at Big East Tourney

The South Florida Bulls and UConn Huskies were set to face off in a winner’s bracket game today at the Big East Tournament at 4pm. The game would be eventually be postponed by that didn’t mean that players couldn’t have some fun. I give South Florida the edge in the dancing competition but the teams will be facing off on the diamond on Friday at 10am. The video is available below. Read the rest of this entry »
