Texas will be hosting the regional at the newly refurbish UFCU-Disch Falk Field. The last time Texas held a regional at the friendly confines was back in 2006 and Texas will be looking to get back on track in this regional. Joining Texas will be the the two seed Texas State, which is from the Southland Conference where they won the regular season title but lost in the Championship game to Sam Houston State. The three seed will be Boston College who is making their first appearance in the NCAA Tourney in 42 years. They finished the regular season 3rd in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. The 4th seed comes from the Patriot League with the Army Black Knights. They won the Patriot League tournament in a two game sweep over Lafayette to earn the automatic bid. NAIA National Championship Recap for May 27

It’s Point Loma Nazarene and Lubbock Christian in the final. Results from Day 5 of the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Lubbock Christian 14, Oklahoma City 4 (Oklahoma City eliminated)
The Chaparrals got all the runs they needed in the first inning. CF Jaime Armendariz started the game with a walk, moved to second on a balk, to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a ground out. LF Will Stramp hit a home run, and Stars starter Justin Harper walked the next two batters. He was taken out of the game after recording only one out, two runners on base, and the score already 2-0. DH Dan Neumann then hit an RBI double, SS Armando Dominguez hit a two-RBI single, and the score was 5-0 before the Stars got their first turn at bat. Read the rest of this entry »
2009 NCAA Regional Preview: Atlanta
Georgia Tech’s Russ Chandler Stadium plays host to the Atlanta regional, its 9th NCAA regional since 1987.
The #1 seed Georgia Tech faces Colonial Athletic Association champion and cross-town rival Georgia State at 7pm Friday. The two teams have met twice this season with the road team winning each game: Georgia State defeating Georgia Tech 10-1 at Russ Chandler Stadium and Georgia Tech winning 18-2 at Panthersville.
The #2 seed Elon was the Southern Conference regular season champion and will face #3 seed Southern Miss at 3pm Friday. The only prior meetings between the two schools came in 1978 in a 4-game series which Elon won 3-1.

Bryan Fuller is the RHP for Campbellsville who pitched 21 scoreless innings during the NAIA sectional tournament at Saint Charles, MO. CBB met up with him at the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID:
Bob Broughton: Your scoreless inning streak ended Saturday morning against Southern Polytechnic, but you kept Campbellsville in the game.
Bryan Fuller: The Hornets poked the ball through with some timely hits. I threw 73 pitches, and the game was tied 3-3 when I left the game after five innings. I was relieved by Eric Mattos, who is normally our number two starter. He had some control problems, gave up a couple of runs [one of them unearned] and left the game with us trailing 5-3. 2009 NCAA Regional Preview: Fort Worth

Texas Christian University hosts the 2009 Fort Worth Regional in what looks like one of the more wide open regionals of the tournament. The Horned Frogs meet the Wright State Raiders at 7 p.m. CT on Friday. The two teams take the field after game one of the tournament which will see the two seed Texas A&M Aggies take on the three seed Oregon State Beavers at 2 p.m. CT.
Play will continue on Saturday with the first elimination game scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, followed by the winner’s bracket championship game at 7 p.m. CT. The 2 p.m. game on Sunday will be the loser’s bracket championship game, and the 7 p.m. CT game will be the first championship contest. Read the rest of this entry »
2009 NCAA Regional Preview: Baton Rouge
Louisiana State hosts the Baton Rouge Regional as the No. 3 national seed. The Tigers take on Southern in the opening game Friday at 1 p.m., and Baylor meets Minnesota in the nightcap at 6 p.m.
The losing teams from those games meet in an elimination game Saturday at 1 p.m., while the winners meet Saturday at 6 p.m. with a berth in the championship game on the line. 2009 NCAA Regional Preview: Chapel Hill
The Chapel Hill Regional features the host North Carolina Tar Heels as the number 1 seed and the overall number 4 seed. The second seed in the regional is Coastal Carolina who enters as the Big South Conference Tournament Champion. The third seed in the regional is Kansas out of the Big 12 conference. Lee 5, Berry 3 (Berry eliminated)
Brandon Cuniff and Josh Rose combined for a three-hitter that took only two hours and 15 minutes to play. Cuniff pitched the first 5 1/3 innings, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out three. Bob Broughton: The fans here just got to see a pretty good ball game between Lee and Fresno Pacific.
Mark Brew: That was a great game. That’s what happens in the losers’ bracket, when you get two teams fighting for their lives, it gets exciting, the drama and things like that. Both teams played extremely well. Some big pitches, some big hits. [Chris] Warters got a big hit. He’s a senior All-American, and you sort of expect him to do those things. Javier Lopez was good on the mound, at the end, he’s also a senior All-American, and in the end, we had the right guys in the right positions. Also, Trey Burstrom, a junior second baseman, had a big, big double. He’s a nine-hole hitter, and he sort of got us going. Read the rest of this entry »
