Greg Folgia (Missouri) and Ross Hales (Texas A&M) have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games of May 4-10 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. Folgia earns the accolade for the second time of his career, both in 2009, while Hales receives the honor for the first time.

Blake captures Player of the Week honors after leading SDSU with a .611 average in a four-game series win over IPFW. The sophomore had 11 hits, seven doubles, six runs, six RBI and a home run. He also drew one walk and only struck out once in 18 at-bats. Blake doubled in every game against the Mastodons, including hitting two doubles in each of the last three contests. PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior second baseman Adam Duvall of Louisville was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week after his strong offensive showing against No. 25 Ohio State and conference rival St. John’s. Senior righthanded pitcher Keith Cantwell of Seton Hall was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week following his complete game victory over Rutgers. The Pitcher of the Week honor is being shared by Southern Miss sophomore RHP Todd McInnis and UCF senior Caleb Graham, both of whom pitched gems on the road this past weekend.

In the three-game series at Miami over the weekend, Besl went 10-for-15 with two doubles, four home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored. He tallied his first multi-homer game of the year Friday (and second of his career) with two round-trippers, while collecting at least three hits and a homer in every game at Miami. Besl tallied two multi-RBI games at Miami and scored at least two runs each game over the weekend. For the week, the senior totaled 27 bases and had an on-base percentage of .583. He had just six homers entering the week, but finished the week with 10 on the year. Besl also extended his hitting streak to a career-long 15 games with at least one hit in all five games this week. Half of the league’s teams were in action in the city of Houston this weekend, with the results impacting the conference race. Rice moved one step closer to a fourth consecutive regular season C-USA title by taking two of three games from UCF. Second place East Carolina entered the weekend with a one game lead over third place Houston as the teams met at Cougar Field and the Pirates extended that lead with a two games to one series victory over the Cougars.
