D3 Regionals: Warriors slay feisty Eagles

MANSFIELD Conn.- The Eastern Connecticut Warrior’s powerful offense flexed its muscles against Husson, proving to be too powerful for even the scrappy Eagles to overcome.

D3 Regionals: Trinity moves to 3-0 in tourney

MANSFIELD Conn. – The defending champs are sitting pretty.

Trinity, who posted a 45-1 mark and brought home the Division III National Championship last season, moved to 3-0 in New England Regional play with a convincing 14-0 win over WPI last night.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Matt Otteman had a career night hitting a grand slam and a three run homer to finish with a career-high seven RBI in UT Arlington’s 14-6 victory over No. 25 Texas State on Friday evening at Clay Gould Ballpark in Arlington. Eight Mavericks finished with multi-hit games and senior Andy Sauter pitched 3.2 innings in relief to win his fourth game of the season. UT Arlington improves to 29-24 overall and to 19-13 in the SLC while Texas State had its six-game SLC win streak snapped and falls to 38-14 overall and to 24-7 in league play.

NORMAN, Okla. — The No. 13 Sooners hit three home runs en route to a 6-5 victory over No. 16 Texas A&M during Friday’s series opener in front of 1,236 fans at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

J.T. Wise’s 17th home run of the year, a two-run blast in the fifth inning, gave OU a 6-4 advantage as Ryan Duke recorded his 13th save of the season.

CBB Visit: UCLA at Cal-State Fullerton (May 15th)

FULLERTON – Former high school teammates Gerrit Cole and Daniel Renken, both standouts at nearby Orange Lutheran, took the mound as opponents on Friday night.

NCAA Division 3 New England Regional Day 3 Recap

The College Baseball Blog sent writer Nate Owen to cover the Division 3 Regional in Mansfield Connecticut on Friday. The first game of the day featured Trinity (CT) taking on Southern Maine in a winner’s bracket game. Trinity was able to walk away with a 6-0 victory. The second game of the day saw Husson defeat Babson by a score of 10-6 to eliminate Babson. The third game of the day was between Eastern Connecticut and Southern Maine which was won by Eastern Connecticut by a score of 7-2 to end Southern Maine’s season. The final game of the night was a winner’s bracket matchup between WPI and Trinity. Trinity won the game in dominating fashion 14-0. Read the rest of this entry »

D3 Regional: Gilblair silences Huskies

MANSFIELD Conn. – A day after getting it done at the plate, Shawn Gilblair was dealing on the mound.
