Trinity’s Jeremiah Bayer, the New England Pitcher of the Year, stared in at the plate. Looking back was Eastern senior Shawn Gilblair, the New England hitter of the year, up in the top of the ninth with his team trailing by one.
But in a matchup of the best players of the two top teams in the Division 3 New England regional, it was Bayer who won out, getting Gilblair to loft a short popup to shortstop to end the game and send the Bantams to the World Series in Grand Chute Wis. where they will look to defend their 2008 title. PRINCETON, N.J. — It has been since the late 1980s that Dartmouth hoisted a championship in Baseball. In 1987, the Big Green, led by star pitcher Mike Remlinger, brought the old EIBL championship to the friendly confines of Hanover, N.H. Since then, six other Ivy League teams have won the title as the Big Green waited for another shot at glory. That all changed in 2009 as Bob Whalen’s squad emerged to take the Ivy League Baseball Championship in the rubber match of a three-game series with Bill Walkenbach’s Cornell squad, all the while ending the 22-year drought.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami outfielder Chris Herrmann has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week and North Carolina pitcher Matt Harvey has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week for their performances in the final games of the regular season. 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Presbyterian freshman Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) and Charleston Southern senior Brandon Roberts (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) have been named the Choice Hotels Player of the Week and New Balance Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played the final week of the regular-season, it was announced today by the League office.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina junior first baseman Dustin Ackley, who keyed the Tar Heels to an Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division title and a top-five national ranking, has been named the 2009 ACC Baseball Player of the Year.
NEW ORLEANS – Middle Tennessee’s Rawley Bishop and Kenneth Roberts are the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, according to a vote by the league’s member institutions.
