#16 Texas A&M 3 #8 Texas 0

AUSTIN, Texas – True freshman Ross Hales tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout on Saturday afternoon to lead No. 14 Texas A&M to a 3-0 win over No. 7 Texas before 7,384 fans at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and a national television audience.

Hales allowed four baserunners on the day. He gave up hits in the first, fifth and ninth innings, and one batter reached on a wild pitch after striking out. Hales, who allowed just one Longhorn into scoring position, went to a three-ball count on a lone UT hitter–Tant Shepherd in the eighth–and got him to ground into a double play.

The victory marked the Aggies’ first shutout win over Texas since 1979, and improved their record to 33-17 and 14-9 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns fell to 35-12-1 and 16-9-1 and saw a six-game win streak snapped.

#17 Oklahoma 7 Oklahoma State 5

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Bryant Hernandez and Aaron Baker scored on the final two of four ninth-inning passed balls by Oklahoma State catcher Kevin David, allowing No. 17 Oklahoma to beat the Cowboys 7-5 on Saturday night.

Oklahoma (37-15, 14-9 Big 12) clinched the annual Bedlam series for the first time since 2005 with its second straight win over Oklahoma State (29-21, 6-15). The win also keeps alive the Sooners’ hopes for a conference title.

“Anything can happen it seems in Bedlam,” Oklahoma coach Sunny Golloway said. “That’s what makes this series so great.”

Oklahoma will enter Sunday’s game tied for second with Texas A&M, trailing league leader Texas (35-12, 16-9-1).

#21 Kansas 7 Missouri 4

Senior Preston Land’s two-run single in the top of the fifth broke a three-all tie, while David Narodowski and Casey Lytle each had a career high four hits as 23rd-ranked Kansas trumped Missouri, 7-4 Saturday at Taylor Stadium.

The Jayhawk win evens the series at one and powers KU to a 35-17 overall record, including 13-10 in the Big 12. The 13 conference wins is the most for Kansas since going 17-8 in the Big Eight Conference in 1994. MU falls to 29-23 and 15-11 in the Big 12.

KU trailed early, but in the fifth, Narodowski led off with his third home run of the season to tie the game, and then after loading the bases with two outs, Land broke the game open with a two-run single. The senior first baseman has just two hits in three games against Missouri this season, but has five RBIs after hitting a three-run homer against the Tigers on April 22 in Kansas City.

Texas Tech 12 #21 Kansas State 6

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Texas Tech snapped a five-year, 23-series road losing streak this afternoon with an impressive 12-6 win over No. 10 Kansas State in front of 2,577 fans at Tointon Family Stadium. The win gives Tech its first road series win since a 2-1 series win at Oklahoma State at the end of the 2004 season.

The win moves Tech to 23-27 on the year and to 11-12 in Big 12 Conference play. A win by Oklahoma tonight over Oklahoma State would give the Red Raiders their first berth in the Big 12 Conference Championship since 2006. With the loss, Kansas State fell to 37-13-1 and to 12-9-1 in the league.

Both starters held court in the first two innings as the first hit of the game came from Willie Rueda with two outs in the top of the third. Rueda’s hit was a big one as it drove in the first run of the game and was the first of four runs that Tech would score in the inning. Freshman right fielder Garrett Totten reached on a one-out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch to set up the scoring chance for Rueda. Joey Kenworthy followed with a single to put runners on the corners and senior first baseman Chris Richburg delivered a bases-clearing, two-RBI triple to the wall in right field. Taylor Ashby rounded out the scoring with an RBI single that gave the Red Raiders a 4-0 lead.
