MAC East Division Player of the Week
Adam Skonieczki, Buffalo, CF
Junior, Endicott, NY (Union-Endicott)

For the week, Skonieczki batted .455 with a pair of doubles and triples and two stolen bases. Skonieczki’s efforts at the plate and his twenty putouts in center field, helped the Bulls win their conference weekend series over #23 Kent State while tying the program mark for most wins in a season (19) since the the Bulls’ reinstatement in 2000. In the Bulls’ 15-14 come from behind victory over #23 Kent State on Friday afternoon, Skonieczki smashed a triple off the left-center wall with Skonieczki also scoring on a throwing error to third to help ignite the Bulls first rally in the game. Skonieczki finished the day by going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and six putouts. In the Bulls’ 10-6 victory over #23 Kent State on Saturday afternoon, Skonieczki slid a three-RBI double down the left field line, clearing the bases for the Bulls, putting Buffalo in the lead 4-3.

MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week
Brennan Smith, Bowling Green, Sophomore
Sandusky, Ohio (Perkins)

Smith pitched the Falcons to the open game victory in the series with Ohio. The sophomore right-hander went seven innings allowing just five hits and three earned runs while striking out 10. He retired 14 of the last 20 batters he faced, two of those reaching on errors, allowing just three hits over his last 4.2 innings of work. Smith earned his seventh win of the season and fifth in MAC play. He has a 3.36 ERA for the season and a 3.57 ERA in league play.

MAC West Division Player of the Week
Matt Skirving, Eastern Michigan, Catcher
Sophomore, Midland, Mich. (H.H. Dow)

Skirving had a stellar week at the plate for EMU, going 8-for-20 (.400) with four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored, leading the Eagles to a split doubleheader at Michigan State and a pair of wins at home against Ball State. Skirving homered twice against the Spartans, and in the series finale against BSU, the slugger blasted 13th home run of the season and finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBI. Skirving finished the week with a 1.100 slugging percentage.

MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week
Corey Chaffins, Eastern Michigan, Redshirt Sophomore
New London, Ohio (New London)

Chaffins was stellar for the Eagles against Ball State University, May 1, recording a career-best 14 strikeouts in seven and two-thirds innings to help EMU claim a 6-5 win over the Cardinals. Chaffins went seven and two-thirds, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits, fanning 14 Cardinals.
