Florida State 10 Virginia Tech 4

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (32-12, 17-7 ACC) broke open a one-run ball game with four home runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined to take down Virginia Tech (27-19, 10-15 ACC) 10-4 Saturday evening on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. Seven different Seminoles registered an RBI in game two as the Garnet and Gold extended their win streak to a season-best 11 games with the win over the Hokies.

Jason Stidham was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle Saturday night going 3-for-4 at the plate. The junior second baseman reached base on his first four plate appearances recording a single, double, home run and base-on-ball. Stidham finished the game with a pair of runs and two RBI.

Miami (FL) 7 Boston College 5

BROCKTON, Mass. – The 13th-ranked University of Miami baseball team smacked five homers – including back-to-back-to-back blasts in the fourth inning – en route to a 7-5 series-clinching win over Boston College Saturday night at Campanelli Stadium. The back-to-back-to-back homers in the fourth inning by Chris Herrmann, Yasmani Grandal and Harold Martinez marked the first time since nearly 12 years a UM team accomplished the rare feat.

The win for Miami (31-15, 15-11 ACC) secured the team’s sixth ACC series win of the year while Boston College falls to 28-19 overall and 11-13 in league play with the loss.

Clemson 11 Maryland 2

Clemson, SC – The Tiger offense totaled 15 hits, including eight extra-base hits, in #17 Clemson’s 11-2 victory over Maryland in front of 4,847 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday night. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 series lead, improved to 31-15 overall and 15-10 in the ACC. The Terrapins dropped to 22-25 overall and 6-19 in ACC play.

Tiger reliever Ryan Hinson (2-0) earned the win, as he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts. Starter Trey Delk pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of three-hit ball as well. Clemson’s four hurlers held Maryland to just 1-for-18 with runners on base and 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, as the Terrapins stranded 12 runners on base in the game.

Maryland starter Scott Swinson (3-7) suffered the loss, as he yielded 10 hits, seven runs (five earned), and two walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched.

Georgia Tech 9 Presbyterian 8 (10 innings)

ATLANTA – Jeff Rowland led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk-off home run to lift No. 10 Georgia Tech (30-11-1) to a 9-8 win over Presbyterian (10-33) Saturday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Rowland offered at the first pitch he saw from reliever Andrew Foushee (1-6) to give Tech its second victory in the series and 30 wins in a season for the 27th-straight year.

Yellow Jacket reliever Mark Pope (5-1) entered the game with two on and one out in the top of the ninth inning and struck out designated hitter Tony Micklon. After an intentional walk loaded the bases for the Blue Hose, Pope struck out Zach Rhinesmith to get the Jackets out of the jam. He then worked a 1-2-3 10th inning to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Campbell 16 NC State 7

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Alex Aycoth and Ryan Hamme combined to drive in seven runs and Campbell scored three, three and eight runs in the first three innings en route to a 16-7 romp past NC State in college baseball action at Taylor Field.

The Camels, who swept the two-game, home-and-home series from the Wolfpack, improved to 24-19. NC State fell to 20-26 with the loss.
