Florida State 10 Virginia Tech 2

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (31-12, 16-7 ACC) scored six runs on two outs Friday night in defeating Virginia Tech (27-18, 10-14 ACC) 10-2 on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The win pushed the Seminoles’ win streak to a season-best 10 games, while it marked the eighth straight victory over the Hokies.

Stephen Cardullo led the Florida State offense on Friday with a career-high four hits finishing the game with three singles and a double. Jason Stidham also garnered multiple hits in game one against the Hokies going 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. The junior second baseman also walked twice as he reached base on four of his five plate appearances.

Miami FL 5 Boston College 1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Chris Hernandez allowed just one run in seven innings of work and Yasmani Grandal went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored as No. 13 Miami came away victorious in its series opener at Boston College, 5-1, Friday afternoon at Shea Field.

For the second straight start, Hernandez (6-3) held his opponent to just one run, scattering six hits and two walks before exiting after seven. His seven innings of work also tied his season-high set last month at Clemson (4/11). Kyle Bellamy came on in the eighth in relief of Hernandez and held the Eagles hitless over the final two innings to earn his ninth multi-inning save and his 13th overall this season.

Georgia Tech 16 Presbyterian 2

ATLANTA – Sophomore Deck McGuire scattered two hits over seven innings, and 10th-ranked Georgia Tech (29-11-1) belted five home runs to down Presbyterian (10-32), 16-2, Friday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.

McGuire held the Blue Hose scoreless while throwing just 82 pitches in his seven innings to improve to 8-0 on the season. He did not issue a walk and fanned 10 Presbyterian batters on the night.

McGuire held the Blue Hose hitless until the fourth inning and didn’t allow the second hit until the top of the seventh, when Jared Combs reached on a two-out single. The right-hander reached 10 K’s for the third time this season while improving to 16-1 in his career as a Yellow Jacket.

Presbyterian Recap

Campbell 7 NC State 4

RALEIGH, N.C. – After nearly a week off for exams, Campbell showed little signs of rust as they defeated N.C. State by a 7-4 margin at Doak Field. The Camels improve to 23-19 on the season, while the Wolfpack dips to 20-25.

The Wolfpack got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when Andrew Ciencin hit a solo home run over the left field wall. Ciencin’s third home run of the season gave NCSU a 1-0 lead.

NC State extended their lead to 2-0 when Andrew Ciencin hit his second home run of the game. The solo home run by Ciencin, like his first, cleared the left field wall.
