East Texas Pump Jacks Tap Pelican State For Award-Winning Infielder, Two Pitchers

10db3e6b6903afd9c5ebd105ee895ec83001The East Texas Pump Jacks today announced the signing of members of the Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team, as well as a pitcher from Centenary College.

Joining the Pump Jacks are infielder Greg Fontenot and pitcher Patrick Holloway, both Ragin’ Cajuns. Also coming to East Texas is Centenary sophomore Stephen Tromblee.

NCBWA Players of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 19, today. Minnesota’s junior second baseman Derek McCallum was named National Hitter of the Week, while North Carolina junior right-handed pitcher Alex White was named National Pitcher of the Week. Harvard Baseball at Fenway

The Crimson has put out a video report on the Harvard Baseball team’s appearance at the Baseball Beanpot last week. The video includes interviews with players and coaches about how special it was to play at the historic ballpark. Krieger batted .692 (9-13) with a homer, two triples, five runs scored and seven RBI as George Mason won two of three at VCU last weekend. The senior outfielder had at least two hits and two RBI in each game, including a 4-for-5 performance with three RBI on Saturday.

Southland Conference Weekly Baseball Release

Texas State has won its last eight games and Sam Houston State has won seven in a row entering Tuesday’s schedule. Both teams received votes in the NCBWA poll and Texas State, which has a one and a half game lead on both Sam Houston and UT Arlington. Conference play resumes Friday. Texas State plays host to McNeese State and Sam Houston welcomes Southeastern Louisiana. UT Arlington is at Stephen F. Austin. Other league action includes Central Arkansas at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTSA at Nicholls State and Northwestern State at Lamar.
