BROOKLINE MASS – In a game that featured an early unusual twist, it was a return to form that propelled Northeastern to a win over VCU Saturday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

HANOVER, N.H. -A nine-run second inning allowed Dartmouth to cruise to a 14-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader before falling to Harvard in game two in 10 innings, 6-4, in front of 1,237 fans at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park on Senior Day. Coupled with Brown’s doubleheader split at Yale this afternoon, the Big Green (21-12, 15-3 Ivy) have clinched at least a share of the Rolfe Division crown as they own a two-game lead on the Bears with two to play. (5-2) earned his team-leading third complete game and tied the team lead with his second complete game shutout after striking out six batters and allowing no walks and seven hits to defeat Georgetown, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Owen T. EASTON, Pa. – J.T. Watkins, Joey Henshaw and Kyle Fleming homered and Matt Fouch fired six shutout innings as the Black Knights clinched their fifth Patriot League Tournament berth in six years with a 12-2 defeat of Lafayette in the first game of the teams’ doubleheader, Saturday afternoon at Kamine Stadium.

Lafayette fought back from an early 4-0 deficit to register a 14-8 victory in the nightcap. Despite the loss, Army remains in the hunt for at least a share of a second consecutive regular season Patriot League title. Read the rest of this entry »

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – On Saturday at Gary Hogan Field, the HBU baseball team lost the first game of a double-header with the University of Arkansas-Little Rock by a score of 5-4 before bouncing back to win game two, 5-2.

Game one remained scoreless until the bottom half of the fourth. The Trojans got a leadoff double, followed by a groundout, a walk and a RBI groundout. With two outs and one man on, UALR got two more hits, drew three walks and HBU pitchers threw three wild pitches that allowed the Trojans to plate four more runs and take a 5-0 lead.

CBB Visit: VCU at Northeastern

BROOKLINE MASS. – In a series crucial to the CAA standings, it was VCU who struck the first blow.
The Rams used a complete game effort from senior Ian Thomas (4-2, 4.39) and took advantage of some miscues in the field by Northeastern to down the Huskies 7-2 Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

This is the Big 12 recap for Saturday , April 24th. Kansas State took the opener from Texas as AJ Morris threw a complete game. In the Game Texas had Morris on the rope early in the contest but could not put the finishing touches on AJ. AJ went the distance but, he threw 139 pitches. In other action Oklahoma took the opener from Baylor in Waco, 4-2. Oklahoma State 4 Texas A&M 1, Nebraska 11 Kansas 4, and Missouri 18 Texas Tech 7.

SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs opened the 2009 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Series with a 10-1 win over the University of the Ozarks on Friday.

At TLU’s Katt-Isbel Field, the Bulldogs captured game one of the best two-of-three series with 15 total hits and with seven innings from freshman ace Brad Orosey (Houston/Cypress Creek).
