Houston continued its success on the road in conference play, sweeping three games at Marshall for its third straight C-USA series win on the road. The Cougars are now 10-5 in league play. Jared Ray started the series in fine fashion, pitching his first complete-game shutout in a 7-0 win on Friday night. Houston broke out the bats on Saturday in a 12-4 win, registering 14 hits. On Sunday, the Cougars jumped out to a 7-0 lead before allowing Marshall to tie the game in the eighth inning. Houston pushed across two runs in the top of the tenth inning and allowed one run in the bottom half of the frame before Zak Presley threw out a runner trying to advance to third base and the Cougars had a 9-8 victory. CBB Visit: VCU at Northeastern

BROOKLINE MASS- After Northeastern’s 6-5 victory over VCU Sunday, Frank Compagnone couldn’t hide his desire to make NU’s first CAA tournament since 2006.

It sure showed on the field.

The junior doubled home redshirt freshman Matt Miller in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and then made a diving catch in left field, going to his right to rob VCU sophomore Joe Van Meter of extra bases with the tying run on first in the ninth. Read the rest of this entry »

Ivy League Recap for April 26th

Here is your Ivy League Recap for the final weekend of action. Dartmouth won the Red Rolfe Division for the second straight year while Princeton and Cornell tied for the Gehrig Division title. Princeton and Cornell will play a playoff game on Wednesday at Cornell to decide which team advances to the Ivy League Championship next weekend which will be hosted by Dartmouth at newly renovated Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park. Patriot League Recap for April 26th

Here is your Patriot League Recap for April 26th. This weekend was the final weekend of Patriot League action as Bucknell clinched the number 1 seed for the Patriot League tournament while Army is the number 2 seed. Holy Cross is the third seed while Lafayette rounds out the field as the number 4 seed. The opening round of play begins on May 9th when Bucknell hosts Lafayette while Holy Cross heads to Army.

AUSTIN, Texas – Drew Biery’s two-run single in the top of the eighth gave Kansas State a 6-5 lead, but Texas escaped a weekend sweep by plating the tying run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as the 23rd-ranked Wildcats and second-ranked Longhorns ended Sunday’s game tied 6-6 due to the Big 12 travel rule.

Central Arkansas 21 at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of Central Arkansas baseball team put away Texas A&M-Corpus Christi early with a 20-6, seven-inning victory at Chapman Field on Sunday afternoon. The Bears, after blowing leads in the first two games of the series, scored in every inning and posted a season-best 20 hits. UCA improves their record to 18-23 overall and 9-15 in Southland play, while the Islanders fall to 16-29 and 8-16.

Victoria Generals Add 3 More to Roster for 09

(Victoria, Tx) Chris Clemons, the Head Coach of the Expansion Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League, has announced additions to his summer roster.

Chase Cleveland is junior at Henderson State where is splits time between shortstop and the pitching mound. He bats left and throws right. Clemons said he is pleased that Chase has chosen the Generals and likes his maturity and leadership.

CBB Visit: Navy at Holy Cross Game 2 (April 25th)

The Navy Midshipmen entered the second game of a Saturday doubleheader against Holy Cross with a 17-24-1 overall record and a 7-10 mark in Patriot League play after dropping Game 1 13-8. Holy Cross on the other hand enters with a 19-22 overall mark while being 9-6 in Patriot League play. The first game of the day saw Holy Cross pick up a 13-8 victory.

The Midshipmen sent Zach Sipe to the mound as he had a 2-4 record with a 6.46 ERA in nine starts. Holy Cross countered with Nate Koneski who was sporting a 2-2 record with a 8.03 ERA in 13 appearances including five starts. Read the rest of this entry »
