FRISCO Sophomore left-handed reliever Matt Crocker was tabbed the Southland Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Crocker continued his stellar work out of UTSA’s bullpen last week, recording a pair of wins in the weekend series sweep at Nicholls. The Kingwood native tossed two perfect innings and struck out two in Friday’s 5-1 11-inning victory. He followed that performance with two more scoreless frames in Sunday’s 6-5 come-from-behind win. The southpaw fanned three in addition to allowing a hit and walking one batter in the Roadrunners’ 13th comeback victory of the season.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina catcher Mark Fleury and Clemson outfielder Jeff Schaus have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week for the period of April 20-26. Virginia Tech’s Justin Wright received Pitcher of the Week honors. 
DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 12th year with its 2009 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 23-June 25 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Yoder (Belleville, Pa.) and Charleston Southern sophomore Jesse Cadenhead (Denver, N.C.) have been named the Choice Hotels Player of the Week and New Balance Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played April 20-26, it was announced today by the League office. 
NEW ORLEANS – For the second-straight week and the third time this season Middle Tennessee’s Bryce Brentz is the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Louisiana-Lafayette’s Zach Osborne picks up his second Pitcher of the Week citation of the 2009 campaign. 
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon first baseman and catcher Dallas Tarleton has been named the Southern Conference Baseball Player of the Week while Davidson relief pitcher Mike Frongello has been chosen as the league’s Pitcher of the Week for all games from April 20-26.

The Pitcher of the Week went to East Carolina freshman Kevin Brandt, whose shutout performance on the mound led the Pirates to a 4-0 win over No. 1 North Carolina.
