IRVING, Texas—Greg Folgia (Missouri) has earned the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week award while Austin Wood (Texas) has been named the Pitcher of the Week for games of April 13-19 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is the third honor of Wood’s career — one in each of the last three seasons — and Folgia’s first.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Greg Folgia, Missouri, OF, Jr., 5-10, 194, North Wales, Pa./Christopher Dock

Folgia hit .429 in Missouri’s five games, including a .455 average in the Kansas State series. His performance was highlighted by a two home run-game in Saturday’s 11-6 victory over KSU. The North Wales, Pa. native drove in five runs with a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a three-run shot in the eighth. On Wednesday, Folgia was 3-for-5 with three RBI against Indiana State. He had at least one hit in each game. Folgia led the Big 12 in total bases (18) and was tied for the most RBI (10) and doubles (3) in the league last week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Austin Wood, Texas, LHP, Sr., 6-2, 190, Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood

Wood made four scoreless appearances, which tied for the most outings on the week by a Big 12 pitcher. He allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out nine over 6.0 innings of work. The Kingwood, Texas lefty, who recorded a league-leading three saves, opened the week with a one-inning save in a 5-2 win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In the first game of the doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma on Saturday, Wood earned the save in 2.2 innings. He did not allow a hit while striking out two. Wood retired four batters and gave up one hit in two frames in the nightcap of the twinbill. He capped off the weekend striking out the last batter he faced in Sunday’s 8-5 triumph over OU. It also marked Wood’s 100th career contest, joining only three others at Texas to reach the century mark in games pitched.
