PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Senior Robert Papenhause (Hillsborough, Calif.) enjoyed a terrific week while leading the Bears to a 5-1-1 record. After hitting a solid 5-for-10 in three non-league games early in the week, Papenhause really got going in league play over the weekend, recording seven hits in 11 at bats for a stellar .636 average. In the four games against Penn and Columbia, Papenhause also scored five runs, drove in 11, and had four home runs. His offense helped spark the Bears, who averaged 12 runs per game while running their league record to 7-1, currently second in the Ivy League.

Tom Stack-Babich (Scituate, Mass.) had two walk-off hits and came through in four late inning at bats to lead the Crimson with an impressive weekend. The senior hit a two-run ninth inning homer to give Harvard a 7-5 win over Cornell. He then drove a single to the wall with the bases loaded in the 17th inning against Princeton to give the Crimson a 13-12 victory. Earlier in the Princeton game and trailing by two runs with two outs in the 13th inning, Stack-Babich launched a two-run homer to keep the game going. Before his late inning heroics against Cornell on Saturday, Stack-Babich connected for another two-run homer to give his team a 5-4 lead. In all, he hit four round trippers, drove in 10 runs, hit .478 (10-23) and had a .520 on-base-percentage. He also struck out three batters in 4.;2 relief innings, including 3.2 innings of relief work in extra innings on Sunday.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Sophomore Matt Kimball (Nashville, Tenn.) was lights out for the Bears over the weekend, giving up just a single earned run in the four games that he pitched. After getting the win against Rhode Island last week, he came back to pitch 4.1 innings in two days for Brown, shutting down Penn and Columbia. With the two saves, Kimball is now only one shy of the Brown single season record (six), and is already halfway to the career record (ten). In the second game against Penn, the right-hander dominated the Quakers by recording strikeouts on all five outs he was in for.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Since freshman Joe Sclafani (Palm City, Fla.) moved into the leadoff slot, Dartmouth has won nine straight, including all five last week. Sclafani was 8-for-17 (.471) with a double, triple and his first two collegiate home runs while scoring eight runs and collecting eight RBIs. Both of his home runs came in the doubleheader sweep of Cornell, the first a two-run shot from the left side of the plate, and the second a three-run bomb from the right side. In addition, he walked four times for a .571 on-base percentage, slugged an even 1.000 for the week and even stole a base for good measure.
