AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 9 Texas Longhorns received a strong pitching performance to stymie the No. 19 TCU Horned Frogs, 6-0, in Tuesday night action at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Texas (21-8) broke the scoring seal with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Connor Rowe led off the inning with a double to left field and advanced to third on Travis Tucker’s bunt single and scored on Michael Torres’ single to left center. With no outs in the inning, the bats weren’t silenced yet, as Brandon Belt laced a single to right field to plate Tucker.

After holding TCU (19-10) scoreless in the top of the fourth, the Texas bats found life again as they scored three runs on four hits to extend the Horns’ lead to 5-0. After Cameron Rupp reached on an infield single to start off the frame, Kevin Keyes hit his fourth home run of the season to plate a pair. Brandon Loy followed up with a single to centerfield, moved to second on a Tucker single and came home on Torres’ single down the left field line.

Texas scored for the third consecutive inning when Russell Moldenhauer reached on a walk, moved to third on two groundouts and scored on Keyes’ single to left field to balloon the lead to 6-0.

Five Longhorns pitchers combined to give Texas its sixth shutout of the season.

Starter Cole Green scattered two hits and one walk with one strikeout in 2.0 shutout innings. Austin Dicharry (3-1) earned the win in relief, throwing 4.0 innings. Dicharry struck out five and allowed no runs on three hits. Stayton Thomas went 0.2 innings, surrendering no runs on one hit and one walk. Taylor Jungmann preserved the shutout, working 1.1 innings while allowing a hit and striking out two. TCU starter Greg Holle (3-1) shouldered the loss. He lasted 2.0 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one.

The Texas offense was paced by Keyes who hit 2-for-4, which included his fourth home run of the season and three RBI. Tucker, Torres, and Belt each added two hits.
