College Baseball Scores for April 6th

Monday is always a slow night of College Baseball and this week was no exception as only three games took place. Dallas Baptist knocked off Oral Roberts 5-4 while Washington State picked up a 12-8 victory over BYU and lastly Gonzaga beat regional rival Washington 7-3.

The Dallas Baptist University Patriots improved to 20-8 on the season as they defeated the Golden Eagles from Oral Roberts University on Monday afternoon by the score of 5-4.

Starting pitcher Victor Black picked up the win improving to 5-1 on the year. Black pitched six innings allowing only two runs on ten hits while striking out nine Eagle batters. Freshman Michael Smith pitched two scoreless innings in relief before Sophomore Chris Haney stepped in and grabbed his fifth save of the season pitching one inning to close out the Golden Eagles.

Washington State 12 BYU 8

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and posted a 12-8 come-from-behind victory over BYU in nonconference baseball at Bailey-Brayton Field, Monday.

With one out in the inning, sophomore Matt Argyropoulos blasted a home run over the left field wall to pull Washington State (13-13) within 5-4. After a ground out, freshman pinch hitter Patrick Claussen and sophomore Shea Vucinich singled and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. After freshman Derek Jones walked to load the bases, seniors Alex Burg and Greg Lagreid collected back-to-back infield hits to give WSU a 6-5 lead.

Senior Jared Prince and junior Michael Weber followed with consecutive two-run singles that expanded the WSU lead to 10-5. Argyropoulos capped the rally with a double into the right-center field gap that scored Weber.

Gonzaga 7 Washington 3

SPOKANE, Wash. – Senior first baseman Ryan Wiegand’s fifth inning grand slam led Gonzaga University to a 7-3 non-conference win over the University of Washington at the Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field in Spokane, Wash. Monday night.

Wiegand finished with two hits and four RBI as the Bulldogs won for the fifth time in their last six ball games and improved to 21-8 overall. Gonzaga sophomore starting pitcher Reedy Berg (1-3) struck out four and held the Huskies (10-19) to three runs over five innings to earn his first win of the season.
