Here is your Patriot League Recap for April 5th

Game 1: Army 8 Holy Cross 1
Game 2: Army 5 Holy Cross 2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Ben Koenigsfeld allowed one run in the first inning, then fired six scoreless frames for a complete-game victory in the opener and Clint Moore tripled, doubled, scored two runs and drove in two runs in the nightcap, leading Army to a doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross in Patriot League action, Sunday afternoon at Doubleday Field.

The Black Knights posted an 8-1 victory in the first game and a 5-2 win in the second contest to remain in the thick of the race for a Patriot League playoff spot.

One day after surrendering 21 runs and 26 base hits during two losses on a cold, blustery Saturday afternoon at West Point, Army’s pitchers reversed their fortunes in the warm sunshine on Sunday as Koenigsfeld, second game starter Kirk Porter and reliever Tyler Anderegg combined to limit the Patriot League leading-Crusaders to three runs and nine base hits in the critical pair of victories.

Game 2: Bucknell 11 Lafayette 2

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Andrew Brouse (Kreamer, Pa./Midd-West) was 5-for-8 with three runs scored and four RBIs in two games Sunday at a sun-splashed Depew Field as he helped the Bucknell baseball team to a doubleheader split with Lafayette. The Bison dropped game one 8-4 in eight innings as the Leopards broke open a 3-3 tie with five runs in the top of the eighth. In the nightcap, Bucknell had its own late-inning outburst as it plated eight runs in the bottom of the eighth, turning a tight 3-2 game into an 11-2 rout. Dylan Seeley (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) recorded his third career complete in the winning effort.

The win in the final contest of the four-game series helped the Bison avoid a sweep to the Leopards, who swept a doubleheader on Saturday.

Game 1: Lehigh 6 Navy 5 (7 innings)
Game 2: Lehigh 4 Navy 0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks righted the ship on Sunday with two big wins over Navy in a Patriot League doubleheader. Lehigh overcame two deficits in game one to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Midshipmen – Lehigh’s first Patriot League win of the season – and Kevin Mihalik carried the Brown and White with a complete game shutout in the second game of the day, as Lehigh prevailed, 4-0. With the two wins, the Mountain Hawks improve to 8-23-1 overall and 2-4 in Patriot League play.

Mihalik gave up six hits and waked none as he finished out the first nine-inning complete game for the Mountain Hawks since May 14, 2006. The junior righty struck out three Midshipmen batters and threw 121 pitches to pick up his first win of the season in the second game.

“Kevin was throwing three pitches for strikes, which was fantastic,” Lehigh head coach Sean Leary said. “Any time you throw a complete game shutout it’s amazing, and it came at a time where we really needed it.”
