Dallas Baptist Win Second Straight Against Houston Baptist

DALLAS, Texas – The HBU Huskies fell behind early and never caught up as they lost 12-2 to the Patriots of Dallas Baptist on Friday evening at Patriot Field on the campus of DBU.

The Patriots scored a single run on three hits in the bottom of the first and then added three in the second on four hits. One more run in the fourth pushed the HBU deficit to 5-0. In the sixth, Nick Homan singled with one out and then moved up to third on Eric Schiro’s second double of the game. Beau Warren then brought Homan across the plate with an infield single. The single for Warren extended his current hitting streak to six games.

HBU came out in the sixth and allowed three more runs to make it an 8-1 ballgame through six. Travis Fuquay hit a two-out double in the top half of the eighth and then came around to score thanks to a single off the bat of Schiro, bringing the Huskies within six. Dallas Baptist came up with four runs in the eighth to go up by 10 and end the game.

HBU starter Hunter Scott was tagged with the loss, falling to 0-2 on the season. The right-hander gave up five earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Schiro finished the game 3-4 at the plate with two doubles and one run batted in. The other hits for HBU came from Fuquay, Warren and Homan. Fuquay and Homan each scored once and Warren drove in one. The Huskies had six hits and stranded four runners. DBU finished the game with 14 hits.

HBU (2-22) and Dallas Baptist (18-8) will close out their three-game series on Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 pm.
