The 3rd-ranked University of Texas at Tyler baseball team used 10 runs in the first four innings of Friday night’s game at Irwin Field to turn back LeTourneau, 12-6, in American Southwest Conference action.
UT Tyler (25-6, 8-2) opened the game with five straight hits and went on to record five runs in the inning.
The Patriots scored one run in the third, four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to cap their scoring at twelve.
LeTourneau did not score until the fourth inning when they scored two runs. The YellowJackets went on to add two more runs in both the sixth and seventh innings, but the Patriots struck out four of the final six batters to put an end to any thought of a comeback by LeTourneau.
