PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) led Dartmouth to victories in five of six games last week, including the first four Ivy games of the season, by hitting .560 for the week with three doubles, three homers and eight RBIs for a slugging percentage of 1.040. He began the week with a clutch two-run double in the ninth to tie San Jose State as the Big Green went on to a 7-4 win, their first of the year. This weekend, the outfielder crushed Ivy pitching to the tune of a .688 average (11-for-16) with home runs in each of the last three games as Dartmouth swept doubleheaders on the road at Penn and Columbia.

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Sophomore left-hander Vinny Lally (Tampa, Fla.) flirted with perfection in the Bulldogs’ 6-0 win at Princeton on Saturday. The southpaw retired the first 19 Tigers he faced in the seven-inning affair, falling just two outs shy of a perfect game. He finished the contest with nine strikeouts, one hit allowed and no walks issued in a complete game shutout. Earlier in the week, he threw a scoreless first inning in a non-league game against Connecticut.

Dartmouth won both of Kyle Hendricks’ (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) starts this past week, including a 7-0 complete-game shutout at Columbia on Sunday. The freshman threw just 84 pitches in his seven-inning gem, holding the Lions to five hits and a pair of walks while fanning four for his first collegiate victory. Against San Jose State, he surrendered just two earned runs over seven innings, keeping Dartmouth in the game. The Big Green staged a six-run ninth-inning rally to post their first win of the year, 7-4. Hendricks’ ERA in his two starts was 1.43.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Harvard’s Jeff Reynolds (Saint Petersburg, Fla.) delivered the game-winning run at Penn with an 11th-inning double Monday afternoon. He finished the week batting .444 while collecting a .500 average in two Ivy League games.

Reynolds had three hits, including a double, at Louisiana-Monroe and a pair of multi-hit games at Penn. He also had three innings of effective relief against Columbia on Saturday, allowing just one run.
