ATLANTA – Led by a trio of home runs, the Georgia State baseball team earned a 10-1 upset win over #3 Georgia Tech on Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. The College Baseball Blog for the second straight year will be naming a single Player of the Week and a Pitcher of the Week. This award is selected by a vote on by the writers of The College Baseball Blog. This week we honor Georgia Tech’s third baseman Matt Skole as out Player of the Week while John Frawley of North Florida picked up our Pitcher of the Week award.

PHILADELPHIA (3/24/09) – Temple senior Jamie Abercrombie (Ambler, PA / Hatboro-Horsham) and Saint Joseph’s sophomore Dominic Favazza (Ocean Pines, MD / Stephen Decatur) have been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in voting conducted by the head coaches and sports information offices.
The College Baseball Blog is always searching for some great plays in college baseball. Today we feature a video of a tremendous catch from this past weekend’s series between the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks and Virginia Commonwealth. The play features UNCW freshman center fielder Thomas Pope tracking down a long fly ball in spectacular fashion. The full video is available after the jump.
