East Texas PumpJacks add 3 Rice Owls to the Roster

FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE

If Webster’s Dictionary had a definition for “pitching factory”, it might look something like this:

PITCHING FACTORY: A school that has built a reputation upon the development of top-quality pitchers, using a dominant pitching staff to repeatedly win conference championships and become a mainstay at the College World Series. See also: RICE UNIVERSITY.
Rice has ridden its pitching staff to 13 consecutive conference championships and seven trips to the College World Series in Omaha. This summer, the Pump Jacks look to bring some of that magic to Driller Park with the signing of Rice pitchers Abel Gonzales, Mark Haynes, and Matt Reckling.

Larry Hays #27 Retired

Former Head Baseball Coach Larry Hays

Former Head Baseball Coach Larry Hays

FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE

On a typical March evening in West Texas, Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian University paid tribute to a man who was anything but.

An individual who single-handedly defined college baseball in the city of Lubbock for over 30 years took his rightful place in both school’s athletics lore. Never again will No. 27 grace the diamonds or dugouts of Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian, instead, that number will hang proudly and should be a source of inspiration for each and every one of us.

UMass cuts Baseball

I have confirmed through various sources that UMass-Amherst will likely cut the baseball program at the end of the year. The other UMass schools in Lowell, Dartmouth, and Boston are currently safe though but that could change.

UMass will join Northern Iowa and Vermont to recently announce that they are dropping the sport. The only New England public universities that will sponsor the sport are Maine, UConn, and Rhode Island after this year. New Hampshire dropped baseball back in 1997 while Vermont is dropping the sport after this season.

What do you think of the future of College Baseball especially in the Northeast?
