All the SEC teams were in action on Sunday, and Arkansas and Mississippi State played a doubleheader due to weather conditions on Friday and Saturday in Fayetteville.  Here is the full SEC recap.

#1 Georgia 4, Tennessee 3

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—–Top-ranked Georgia used a four run fifth highlighted by a two-run home run by Joey Lewis to complete a sweep of Tennessee with a 4-3 victory Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The Bulldogs improved to 24-3 overall and won their seventh straight SEC game to move to 7-2 in league action. The win was the 2,000th in program history. Read the rest of this entry »

Big 12 Recap 3-29-09

There were seven conference games on Sunday in the Big 12, with both the Missouri/Oklahoma State and Nebraska/Oklahoma series having doubleheaders due to recent bad weather in the Oklahoma area.  The other three series wrapped up their three game sets as scheduled.

Flushing, N.Y. – In front of the seventh-largest crowd to ever watch a NCAA baseball game, the Georgetown Hoyas defeated the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday afternoon, 6-4. Princeton, N.J. – Brown continued to play well on the first weekend of Ivy play, sweeping a doubleheader with Princeton by a combined score of 14-5. Junior infielder Robert Papenhause (Hillsborough, CA) had a terrific day at the plate for the Bears, going four-for-six with a pair of walks, a home run, and four RBI’s. McNeese State 12 Central Arkansas 11

Jace Peterson singled in the winning run from third in the bottom of the 11th inning for a 12-11 McNeese State victory over Central Arkansas here Sunday afternoon.

The Cowboys had held the lead throughout the game and had gone into the eighth inning with a 11-5 edge. In that frame, however, the Bears’ Richey Irvin belted the first pitch from Cowboy reliefer Tommy Luce over the right field wall for a grand slam.

We discussed the development of the Boston College program over the last few years and how the team has become better. The Kansas Jayhawks boarded a plane for College Station, Texas with a perfect 3-0 record, sitting alone at the top of the Big 12 standings. After a 3-0 defeat on Friday and Saturday’s 7-6 loss, the Jayhawks are in danger of making the return trip to Kansas with an even 3-3 record in Big 12 play. Saturday’s game between Kansas and Texas A&M wasn’t short on drama. The Jayhawks jumped out to an early lead, touching Texas A&M starter Alex Wilson for two runs in the first inning behind back-to-back RBI-doubles from Buck Afenir and Tony Thompson. Here is your SEC recap for Saturday, March 28.  Arkansas and Mississippi State resumed their suspended game from Friday night, but they were unable to play the regularly scheduled Saturday contest due to field conditions.  All of the other games in the conference proceeded as planned.

CBB Visit: Clemson at Boston College (March 28th)

The College Baseball Blog made the trip to Chestnut Hill MA to take in a doubleheader between Boston College and Clemson. The Eagles entered the day with a 15-7 overall record and 5-3 in ACC play while the Clemson Tigers had a 16-7 record while being 5-5 in ACC play. Read the rest of this entry »
