This is exactly how I thought this series would play out. Missouri was much better than their record indicated as Nick Tepesch kept the Longhorn hitters off balance for his eight innings of work. But in the bottom of the 9th, Texas plated 3 runs to win the game and the series.

Lamar used a seven-run sixth inning to erase an early deficit and win the deciding game over Central Arkansas, 8-4, at Bear Field on Sunday.

Trailing 2-0 following UCA scores in the third and fourth, including a solo home run by Jonathan Yerby, Lamar benefitted from six singles, two doubles and two of the Bears’ season-high five errors to take a 7-2 lead. CBB Visit: Missouri and Texas

Texas-Missouri (Courtesy of Donald J. Boyles)

Texas-Missouri (Courtesy of Donald J. Boyles)

I had the chance to attend the Texas-Missouri doubleheader on March 15. The doubleheaders featured two of the best pitchers in the nation with Missouri’s Kyle Gibson and Texas’ Chance Ruffin toeing the rubber for their respective teams. From the get go, you could tell  that both pitchers were on fire even though it was only a chilly 46 degrees in Austin. You would have thought we were in Columbia, Missouri but we were in Austin, Texas. He had the Texas hitters confused throughout the game as he pitched a complete game shutout as the Tigers won 2-0.

Kansas 3 vs #4 Arizona State 2

Kansas defeated the No. 4 Arizona State University baseball team 3-2 on Saturday in the Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise. The Sun Devils fall to 13-3 on the season with the loss.

Freshman Mitchell Lambson was the hard-luck loser, falling to 3-1 despite striking out 12 and allowing just two hits and one run in 5.2 innings out of the bullpen. Jason Franzblau started and gave up six hits and two earned runs in two innings.

HBU picks up its first win of the season to move to 1-13 on the year while TSU falls to 7-7.

HOUSTON – On a soggy day at Husky Field, the HBU Huskies defeated Texas Southern, 5-2, in a game shortened to five innings as a result of rain.

The game remained scoreless through three innings as neither team managed a hit before the fourth. In the top of the fourth, TSU got a leadoff walk followed by a double play. With two outs, the Tigers got two consecutive singles and a double to make it a 2-0 ballgame.

USC- Upstate Falls In Pitcher’s Duel At Lipscomb, 3-0

FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With two of the best pitchers in the Atlantic Sun Conference on the mound, Saturday afternoon’s game between the raindrops at Ken Dugan Field was even better than advertised. Nine hits. 20 strikeouts. Only three runners got past second base.

Unfortunately for the USC Upstate baseball team, all three runners scored for Lipscomb in the bottom of the sixth innings, as the Bisons survived Upstate’s second straight five-hitter to win, 3-0, in the opener of the three-game conference set.
