CBB Visit: Holy Cross vs Yale/Quinnipiac

The College Baseball Blog made the short trek over to Holy Cross to take in a split doubleheader with Holy Cross playing both Yale and Quinnipiac in nine inning games. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6 McNeese State 4

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team received clutch hitting and solid pitching Saturday afternoon as the Islanders downed McNeese State 6-4 at Chapman Field to earn their first Southland Conference win of the season. The Islanders will go for the series win tomorrow at 1 p.m.

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team extended its winning streak to six games with a 5-0 shutout over Big East rival Cincinnati here today at Trees Field. Corey Baker pitched a complete-game shutout, scattering six hits while striking out five for his team-leading third win of the year.

The Panther offense was led by Frank Mercurio, who went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI including his third home run of the season, a solo shot that started the sixth for Pitt. Read the rest of this entry »

St Edwards rally in game two to sweep #22 Incarnate Word

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward’s rallied from four runs down in game two to sweep a doubleheader from #22 Incarnate Word Saturday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field. St. Edward’s won the first game, 4-3, and rallied to take game two, 9-6.

With the two victories today, St. Edward’s is now tied with Incarnate Word for third place just a half game out of first place.

CBB Weekend Visits

The College Baseball Blog will be attending at least four games this weekend.I will be taking in the Holy Cross doubleheader on Saturday afternoon which features single games for the Crusaders against Quinnipiac in Game 1 and Yale in Game 2. Colin Weber will be taking in the Lamar and Texas State game on Saturday afternoon. I will be returning to action on Sunday with a trip to Storrs CT to take in the UConn and West Virginia series finale. I might also take in the Uconn and Northeastern game on Monday afternoon but am not sure about my schedule for the day yet.  Read the rest of this entry »
