2009 NCBWA/D3baseball.com Top 25 (March 31st)

MINNEAPOLIS – The D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll was released Tuesday and Salisbury University dropped four spots to No. 6. Salisbury is ranked No. 19 in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III poll, with the next poll slated to be released on April 7.

Salisbury (21-4, 9-3 Capital Athletic Conference) was ranked No. 1 for three weeks (February 22-March 8) in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA poll before the Gulls dropped to second for the past two weeks.

Eastern Connecticut State University remains on top of the poll for the second straight week as the Warriors (14-1) received 11 first-place votes and 595 points. The four other teams in the top five all received first-place votes. Wheaton (Mass.) College (17-1) jumped from No. 6 to No. 2 as it received four first-place votes and 544 points. No. 3 Millsaps College (24-3) collected three first-place vote and 542 points. Trinity (Conn.) College (12-3), the defending national champions, remains at No. 4 for the second consecutive week after it received three first-place votes and 520 points. University of Texas-Tyler (24-6) rounds out the top five with four first-place votes 519 points.

CAC member York (Pa.) College was the only other conference school to be recognized as it received seven votes. The Sea Gulls took a pair from the Spartans (16-5, 7-3 CAC), previously ranked No. 19 in this poll and No. 12 in the coaches’ poll.

Salisbury will continue conference play this Wednesday, April 1, at Sea Gull Field against Gallaudet University at 3:30 p.m.
