McMurry senior second baseman Tre Lips

EAST DIVISION

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Andrew Teaster, OF, Jr., Ozarks

Ozarks junior outfielder Andrew Teaster ( Hollister,MO / HHS) went 9-for-18 with three doubles, a triple and a home run to pace a 3-1 week, which included an East Division series win over LeTourneau. Teaster also drove in seven runs, scored six times and walked twice. He was a single short of the cycle in the series opener against LeTourneau.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Corey Underwood, LHP, So. , Louisiana College

Louisiana College sophomore left-hander Corey Underwood ( West Monroe,LA / WMHS) went 2-0 in two starts with 17 strikeouts over 14 innings of work. Underwood tossed a seven-inning, complete-game one hitter in a 2-1 win over Central Baptist. The hit wasn’t allowed until one out in the seventh inning. Underwood then threw seven innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts against East Division opponent East Texas Baptist. He allowed just three hits against the Tigers.

WEST DIVISION

CO-HITTERS OF THE WEEK

Tre Lips, 2B, Sr., McMurry

McMurry senior second baseman Tre Lips ( Terrytown,LA / THS) fueled a 5-0 week by going 16-for-27 with four home runs, one double and 15 RBIs. Lips, who homered in every game of a West Division series sweep of Schreiner, also scored 16 runs, walked twice and stole two bases. He did not strike out once.

Eric Mata, 3B, Fr., Sul Ross State

Sul Ross State freshman third baseman Eric Mata ( El Paso,TX / Andress HS) went 10-for-13 with three doubles and eight RBIs to guide a West Division series win over Howard Payne. Mata, who had at least three hits and two RBIs in all three games and had a 4-for-4 performance, also scored seven times and walked twice.

CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Cory Davis, RHP, So., McMurry

McMurry sophomore right-hander Cory Davis (Abilene, TX / Wylie HS) helped begin his squad’s six-game winning streak by tossing 9 1/3 innings of relief against Manchester College in which he allowed no earned runs, one hit and struck out a career-high 12 batters. Davis entered in the second inning with a 5-0 deficit and held MC in check as McMurry eventually rallied for a 7-6 victory in 12 innings.

Tim Kriegel, RHP, Jr., Hardin-Simmons

Hardin-Simmons junior right-hander Tim Kriegel (Round Rock, TX / RRHS) tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout to defeat Concordia Texas in a West Division game. Kriegel struck out seven batters and walked just two in the nine-inning gem. He sat down the final 13 batters he faced.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES:

HITTERS: Texas Lutheran 2B Andrew Femath went 7-for-14 with 13 RBIs over four games. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor OF Joseph Villegas went 6-for-14 with two homers over three games. . . . Schreiner 2B Ray Martinez had four hits and four walks over three losses. . . . Hardin-Simmons OF Michael Morgan went 5-for-13 with a triple and a double over a 3-1 stretch. . . . Louisiana College 2B Hunter White went 6-for-13 with a double to lead a 4-1 week. . . . Texas-Tyler SS Chad Daleiden went 6-for-15 with a home run over a 3-1 stretch. . . . Mississippi College C Jacob Daniel hit a home, double and had six RBIs over three games. . . . East Texas Baptist OF Kyle Pope went 5-for-13 over three games.

PITCHERS: Mary Hardin-Baylor RHP Sam VanHoozer allowed just two runs and fanned six over 7 1/3 innings of relief to get the win against Texas Lutheran. . . . Texas Lutheran RHP Brad Orosey threw a complete-game with 10 strikeouts in a 13-4 win over UMHB. . . . . Texas-Tyler RHP Brett Holland had 13 strikeouts over six innings in a win over Texas-Dallas. . . . LeTourneau RHP Eric Rogers allowed just one run over 8 1/3 innings to beat Ozarks. . . . East Texas Baptist LHP Chase Willard went eight innings and allowed just two runs in a win over LC. . . . Ozarks RHP Todd Koch had 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a win over LeTourneau.
