MINNEAPOLIS – The D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll was released on March 17 and Salisbury University fell from the top spot to No. 2 after being the nation’s top-ranked team for three weeks. The Sea Gulls (14-2, 5-2 Capital Athletic Conference) received seven first-place votes and 589 points this week.

Trinity (Conn.) College, the defending national champions, moved up to the top spot for the first time this season as the Bantams (4-0) received 18 first-place votes and 604 points. Trinity is currently in Florida for Spring Break where the Bantams are slated to play eight games. Heidelberg University (10-2) moved up from No. 6 to No. 3 this week as it received 485 points. University of Texas-Tyler (17-4) dropped from No. 3 to No. 4 as it received 473 points. No. 5 Eastern Connecticut State University (4-0) rounds out the top five with 435 points.

York (Pa.) College was the only other CAC team to receive votes in this week’s poll. The Spartans defeated Salisbury, when the Sea Gulls were ranked No. 1, 7-4 on March 11. The two teams were slated to play a doubleheader this past weekend but the games were postponed due to poor weather. The games are rescheduled for Sunday, March 29, at Sea Gull Field.

Salisbury is in Cocoa, Fla., for its annual Spring Break trip where the maroon and gold will face Hilbert, Medaille, Nichols and Richard Stockton from March 17-20. All games begin at 9 a.m.
