ACC Recap for March 31st

Here is your ACC Recap for March 31st.

Georgia 6 Clemson 5

ATHENS-Top-ranked Georgia scored four runs in the third and held off No. 22 Clemson, 6-5, Tuesday at Foley Field.

Georgia improved to 23-3 and won for the ninth time in 10 games while Clemson dropped to 18-8.

Bryce Massanari and Colby May hit home runs and finished with two hits apiece for Georgia. Rich Poythress, the reigning National Hitter of the Week, went 2-for-4 with his league-leading 48th RBI. Read the rest of this entry »

Ozarks junior outfielder Andrew Teaster ( Hollister,MO / HHS) went 9-for-18 with three doubles, a triple and a home run to pace a 3-1 week, which included an East Division series win over LeTourneau. Teaster also drove in seven runs, scored six times and walked twice. He was a single short of the cycle in the series opener against LeTourneau.

Southland Conference Baseball Weekly Release, March 31

Courtesy: Southland.org http://www.southland.org Michael Choice and the Mavericks play host to Southeastern Louisiana this weekend. Both teams are tied with Texas State for a share of the conference lead.

Southeastern Louisiana, UT Arlington and Texas State are tied atop the league standings at 8-4. This weekend two of those teams meet. Southeastern Louisiana visits UT Arlington while Texas State travels to Central Arkansas. In other league action, Nicholls State is at Northwestern State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is at Lamar, UTSA is at Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State visits McNeese State.

Victoria Generals announce two roster additions for 2009

2009 NCBWA/D3baseball.com Top 25 (March 31st)

MINNEAPOLIS – The D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll was released Tuesday and Salisbury University dropped four spots to No. 6. Salisbury is ranked No. 19 in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III poll, with the next poll slated to be released on April 7.

NCBWA Names Pro-Line Athletic National Players of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 29, today. Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress was named National Hitter of the Week, while Coastal Carolina sophomore left-hander Cody Wheeler was named National Pitcher of the Week. Strasburg looking for 50 million

Stephen Strasburg entered the 2009 campaign as the top player in the country by many publications including this one. (LINK) Hehasn’t disappointed anyone as he has dominated college baseball through the first six weeks of the season. The biggest issue that could come to hurt him is his adviser Scott Boras. Multiple teams in MLB do not deal with Scott Boras clients especially in the first round due to high contract demands. Eric Deragisch’s bat lifted UC Irvine to a 4-1 week, including a three-game sweep over then-ranked No. 12 Cal Poly, to earn Big West Player of the Week honors, while UC Riverside’s Paul Bargas picked up Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades after a strong showing on the mound that resulted in a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Cal State Fullerton.
