Missouri’s pitching staff will be led by junior Kyle Gibson, who in his two previous years with the Tigers has a record of 17-7 and an ERA of 3.97. He was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection last year and has been named a 2009 Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. At 6-6, Gibson is a hard-throwing right-hander that has the ability to dominate on the mound.

ARLINGTON, Texas- UT Arlington center fielder Michael Choice was named to the Baseball America and rivals.com preseason All-Conference list as both publications previewed the Southland Conference. Choice was also named preseason first team All-SLC. Baseball America and rivals.com both had UT Arlington picked to finish eighth in the 12-team SLC.

ARKADELPHIA – Brock Green capped a huge comeback with a walk-off home run in the second game of a doubleheader and Blake Lockwood hit his second collegiate homer – a grand slam – in the opener Saturday against Drury as the fifth-ranked Ouachita Baptist University baseball team took two from the Panthers, 11-5 and 12-10, at Rab Rodgers Field.

College Baseball Hall of Fame Voting Begins

LUBBOCK, Texas – The College Baseball Foundation announced today that voting is now under way for the 2009 class of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in Lubbock. The ballot to select this year’s inductees features 51 players and 18 coaches.

“We’re looking forward to seeing who the voters will elect to this year’s Hall of Fame class,” said Mike Gustafson, co-chair of the College Baseball Hall of Fame and Board of Trustee member for the College Baseball Foundation. “Each person on the ballot was a truly exceptional college baseball player.” Read the rest of this entry »

AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward’s baseball team took the rubber game in their three-game series with Lincoln Saturday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field, 4-2.

Lincoln (1-6, 1-6 HC) got on the board first, scoring a run in the fourth inning. Third baseman James Johndrow drew a walk and then came around to score on a sacrifice fly from second baseman Seth Blackwell.

Oklahoma 2009 Preview – Infield & Outfield

NORMAN, Okla. — The 2009 baseball season is less than a week away and SoonerSports.com brings fans the final installment of the three-part season preview, which focuses on OU’s infield and outfield.

Oklahoma is ranked No. 16 in Baseball America’s preseason poll.

The Sooners began team practices on Sunday, Feb. 1 and will open the 2009 season at home on Friday, Feb. 20. The season opener against Western Illinois is slated for a 3 p.m. start at L. Dale Mitchell Park and is the first of four games set for the weekend.

Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Athletics Department opened the gates on Friday evening at Carolina Stadium for an Open House, giving Gamecock Nation an opportunity to see the school’s new baseball facility. Fans had a chance to see the entire complex, including coaches’ offices, locker room, indoor batting cages, and the dugouts. South Carolina will open the 2009 season next Saturday, Feb. 21 with a three-game series vs. Duquesne. Here are some photos from Friday night’s festivities.
