#3 Texas A&M 9 vs #14 UC Irvine 2
Luke Anders homered and drove in four runs and Brooks Raley tossed a strong six innings to lead No. 1 Texas A&M to a 9-2 win over No. 5 UC Irvine Friday afternoon in the first game of the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

The game was a tight affair until the top of the sixth inning, when the Aggies (6-1) sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven times to put the game out of reach. The Anteaters fell to 3-2 with the loss.

Penn State 2 at #7 Texas 9 FINAL
The No. 4 Texas Longhorns scored seven runs in the fourth inning and coasted to a 9-2 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in collegiate baseball action at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday afternoon.

With the scored tied 1-1, the Longhorns sent 11 men to the plate to open the floodgates in the bottom of the fourth inning. Texas hit for a team cycle in the inning and benefited from two Nittany Lions’ errors in the rally.

College of Charleston 6 vs #12 Oklahoma State 7

Oklahoma State got back in the win column Friday, opening play at the Keith LeClair Classic with a 7-6 triumph over the College of Charleston.

With the win, the 11th-ranked Cowboys improved to 5-1, while CofC dropped to 3-2.

Tyler Blandford earned the win on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings and striking out eight, one shy of his career high. Freshman Randy McCurry picked up his second save of the year by working a scoreless ninth inning.

#12 Oklahoma State 7 at #23 East Carolina 6

Doug Kroll’s two-out, two-RBI double highlighted a three-run, eighth-inning rally by Oklahoma State to lift the 11th-ranked Cowboys to a 7-6 win over East Carolina at the Keith LeClair Classic Friday.

All-American Andrew Oliver won his sixth-straight decision on the mound for the Cowboys, while freshman Randy McCurry picked up his third save by getting Drew Schieber to foul out to right field with two runners on base to end the game.

Houston 2 vs #20 Baylor 3

Gregg Glime’s one-out RBI double snapped a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh, and Logan Verrett tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of relief as No. 6 Baylor edged Houston 3-2 in Friday’s first-day action at the Houston College Classic. It was the fourth one-run victory in six games for Baylor (5-1) this season.

Adam Hornung doubled to right-center with one out in the seventh, and Glime followed with a two-bagger to left-center that scored Hornung. Glime was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple, but the damage had been done. His game-winning hit came on the heels of a 1-for-11 skid after going 2-for-4 in the season opener.

#22 Oklahoma 2 at Washington State 9

Sophomore Matt Argyropoulos singled in two runs to highlight a seven-run eighth inning as Washington State rallied past No. 16 Oklahoma in the Cougars’ baseball home opener, Friday at Bailey-Brayton Field.

With the score tied 2-2, freshman Derek Jones walked off Oklahoma (5-2) starter Andrew Doyle (1-1) to open the Washington State (1-3) eighth. Reliever Chase Anderson walked junior Michael Weber and freshman Patrick Claussen’s sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third with one out.
